stoeger 2000 or franchi i-12 or Baikal MP153

Also, someone mentioned the SPR-453's lack of sling swivels. The baikal comes with some, though they're pretty cheaply made.

yeah im still working on solving the rear sling swivel issue. the front is an easy and clean fix with a front mag tube sling plate, but the rear of the receiver is different from the 870/500 receivers so a rear sling plate adapter wouldnt work. i might have to take a piece of .100" steel and fabricate my own rear sling plate. if i do, ill post a template here if anyone else wants to make one.

Go with the Baikal MP 153 or Remington SPR 453. My brother & I both have the Baikal, his has a 24 inch barrel, I went with the 26. They are great guns for the price!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Dante's in Montreal had 2 of the 28 inch barreled synthetic versions on sale for $549 last friday...

I picked up a used Stoeger 2000 on the EE this year. It's been shooting clays and hunting waterfowl every Sunday without a hiccup. I've been running light target loads to black cloud steel 3" loads. Note - it's an early white bead model with a walnut stock. And it's been taking a beating too, in the water, in the boat, dropped it in the sand and so on.

i was to my local shop today and they had a rem 453 with 28" barrel for 630 and taxes. i could probally take it home for 630. how identical are the 153 and the 453? are all the parts interchangable? my shop doesn't have the stoeger and they said it would be 8 months to get one in so if i get a stoger it has to come from online.

theyre exactly the same but the MP 153 comes with sling swivels while the 453 doesnt.
the 453 will have Remington down one side of the receiver, and Baikal down the other.
my 453 has 'MP 153' on the barrel.
parts are interchangeable.

$630 sounds way too high btw.

it wouldn't surprise me. i have bought a few guns off this store and they always match or beat anything i can find online. ill have a look around and see what they're going for

call lebaron, ask if they have any in stock - i looked but cant seem to find them in their catalogue. remember a $25 club card gives you 10% off everything at lebaron.

also try calling Epps, they might even have a used one cheaper.

x2 on the 2000 as I have never shot the other two. I have a synthetic, but the orange bead and have had it for 2years. I have put everything through it from field loads to buckshot and never had a problem. I have run probably 4000 rnds through it, clays to waterfowl. As many have pointed out on previous threads, go down and size up the guns you are looking at. I do have to second the motion that I would look for a lightly used Beretta. Just my .02.
