Stoeger 2000 shotgun

I was wondering if any of you own/owned a Stoeger 2000 semi-auto 12 gauge? What is your experience any good? I bought a new one a few weeks ago but haven't got it out yet to blast some clays with.

The general idea is that they are a great annual hunting shotgun but have issues under severe usage.

That being said, I've shot a couple of them and believe they are a deal for the price..

I almost bought one strictly for skeet because it's a semi and it's decent quality and a great price. A very experienced shooter talked me out of it as it wont "reliably" cycle light skeet loads. He told me it'll still bang 20+ rounds without jamming but higher dram loads ($$) cycle much better. I'm still looking.
 
I've got one.It doesn't like light loads.Solid gun,I've taken turkey and geese with it.If I was buying an auto(I won this one in the NWTF raffle) I would look for a used Remington 1100.About the same money.

You could also look at the Baikal MP-153 or the Mossberg 930.

Both cheaper and more reliable.

I have one. I,ve put over 1000 rounds through mine. Not a hang up. As far as clays. It depends how many a day you shoot. I wear a vest. No real problems with the recoil. I once shot a flat in a day. I was getting sore by then. They are hard to go wrong for the price.

I disagree with the Baikal. I almost bought this gun last year and got the stoeger instead. Great gun that after puting 2 boxs of 3" through it, shoots
2 3/4" and 3" loads no issues on cycling. My buddy has the Baikal and all I can say is while I'm shooting ducks he's back at the truck fixing his gun. My opinion is its junk. It could be just a lemon but not worth the chance.
As far as recoil. I really don't see any more than my rem870 and when the ducks are flying in and your adrenilin is pumping I don't notice it anyways.

Interesting, what exactly did he need to fix?

My suggestion is that you advise your friend to contact Baikal as they guarantee their action with a lifetime warranty. I had a hard time believing it but the person at Baikal Canada confirmed it when I called to find out if they would be importing their version of the rifled barrel. Stoeger unfortunately does not offer the same coverage.

If your friend has not solved his problem please ask him to join the CGN so one of us can help him out;)

I know one thing was the firing pin but all I really know is it jams all the time and won't eject shells. After abit of tinkering and cleaning it works for abit. He's taken it to the gunsmith that sold it to him but not sure how it will work this year. He's to stuborn to admit its crap and sell it.

I have a M2000 Deluxe. It functions flawlessly even the cheap Walmart shells, that are pretty light loads. I haven't shot thousands of rounds, but the ones that I have were fine.
