I might have the chance to buy a Stoeger Luger in 22 lr does anyone here has any info concerning this pistol as far reliability goes , function. Don't know how much the guy is going to want for it, yet , so if anyone can give me rough idea how much it might be worth, I'd appreciate it. I only saw it briefly it's not in "mint condition" of couse
Thanks
Bob

I've never seen one, let alone become familiar with them, but in the U.S. they do have something of a reputation -- and it's not a good one. If you buy it (which you should if the price is okay), buy it as a collector and occasional shooter.

From what I recall, Stoeger .22s have all the reliability problems inherent in the Luger design combined with poor quality control. But Man!, do they ever look cool!

They only look like Lugers, they don't function like them at all. They are pure blowback operated and the toggle is just to make it look like a Luger.

I bought one in the EE some months ago, in VG condition with 2 mags for $175. It does not function too great with the wrong ammo though. It hates federal bulk pack and dynapoints but loves stingers and the bulk AE stuff. It is also pretty darn accurate and has a great trigger. Most importantly, it's a lot of fun and does indeed look cool :)
