What is the better deal on a budget semi? I can get a Baikal for $600 locally is that a decent price? Anybody who has used them and can tell me if they will cycle trap loads would be great, as I plan to use this for mostly waterfoul but also some skeet.

Thanks

looking at the two, i would go for the Baikal.. seems better made than the Stoeger one i looked at...

a fellow shoots a biakal at trap and skeet, so trap loads work fine in them...

royalsportsman.com has them fairly cheap and at least one very good condition on consignment

i bough a stoeger model 2000 last year
they gave me the cash last week, now i bough something else. never buy a stoeger m200, its a crap.
buy anything else than stoeger firearms.

care to share your M2000 story? or have you already posted that on here somewhere?

i've just handled the M2000, can say that i'm not a fan of it, but have never actually shot one...

I bought my MP-153 last week.

I have not had the chance to try it out yet but the dealer swore by it (but then he is a Baikal dealer, you should've seen the rack of Baikals he had:) )

The dealer did inform me that the semi action has a lifetime guarantee. So if it breaks Baikal will replace it for you.

A couple of Italians recently shot 50,000 rounds in five days with the same Baikal MP-153. The article is on the Baikal website but it is in Russian. However, the pictures do tell part of the story (ex. guy diving in the tubs of empty shells). Here is the link:

Good luck with your shopping,

The Baikal MP-153 is one of the best selling semi-autos in the world. It has a reputation of being solid, durable and reliable.

Owners (including me) are very satisfied with them.

It is the semi-auto that gives you the most for your money.

IMHO it is at least as good as the big name semi-autos for a fraction of the price.

All the best.

I was wondering when you'd show up:p

 If you really want a reliable semi for all types of shooting, there is not one more reliable than the Beretta xtreema 2 or the 391. Both guns will shoot interchangebly 2 1/2 dramtrining loads or max steel loads. I wrote a tst report on a 390 that had 25,451 rounds without any cleanning! It had very few failures to feed, most due to shells not being tapered! Yes, it is more money. But the 391 does recoil less and works with all ammo!
Best regards,
Henry:cool:
