Magazine limits of all types in Canada are a complete minefield but Shotgun limits in particular are confusing.
To summarize, any shotgun can legally hold 5 rounds in the magazine of the size / length of shotgun ammo it is chambered for plus one in the chamber and one on the lifter - ie a ghost load - for a total of 7.
This number can legally increase depending on the gun and ammo used, to take the most extreme example, if you had a gun with a 3.5" chamber it could legally hold 7 rounds of 3.5" as explained above *but* because it can also shoot 2 3/4" ammo that would result in 7 in the magazine (plus one in the chamber and one on the lifter - ie a ghost load - for a total of 9).
Yes, it is confusing.
Not to mention the pump vs semi shotgun, and toss in people trying to add the waterfowl/game bird round limits too in there for non hunting times, yes it does get pretty confusing.
I was simply trying to hint to Leon that he may have to start to read and look at the actual descriptions better then he has been, if you look at the previous posts we have been trying to help, but he has been arguing against the actual product description/pictures on the stoeger sight as well as store sights.
The shotgun he wanted was a 7+1 (so yes 9... lol) when Al Flaherty's offered him the exact same shotgun but with a 4+1 mag tube instead.
My legal limits comment was a hint to why the 4+1 would be easier to come by here then the 7+1 for a semi-auto.
Anyways I tried....i am out. lol
hope you find the one your looking for and are happy with your new purchase Leon.
