Anyone here shoot the Stoeger M3020? Appreciate first hand impressions about the shotgun in terms of construction, balance/handling, performance etc. I haven't had an opportunity yet to inspect one.

I'm presently thinking about getting a Benelli M2 20ga as I had owned M2s previously. But the higher price point may not be entirely justified in view that I intend to use the shotgun mainly for Turkey hunts and perhaps a couple Upland trips during early Fall where one is often presented with opportunities to jump shoot puddle ducks.

No input so far? Perhaps I ought to have asked about the Mossberg 500 ..... seems to get at least 5 pages of response every time regardless of the number of threads! :) :)

Cant comment on this specific model and I dont think there are a lot of them out there yet, but i do have the M3500 in 12g which seems to be the equivalent and I absolutely love it.

True, the 20 has been around a couple years only. I've observed the M3500 receives mostly positive reviews which drew my attention to the m3020 since the design is the same although it is an offshoot of the m3000.

A more cost effective copy of the Benelli M2 .probably a descent gun for the money .

The inertia mechanism design of the m3020 and its 12ga siblings are a copy of the Franchi Affinity. Come to think of it, perhaps I ought to look more closely at the Franchi since product quality will be superior.

Call me a snob but I have tried to like some of the cheaper brands/models that I have picked up over the years for various reasons(good deals, limited use, novelty etc) but I have always ended up selling them in short order. Thing is, even if I only end up using it once a year I still want to like looking at and using the gun. My Benellis/Berettas/Brownings/Wingmasters stay with me regardless of how often I use them because I like looking at them and appreciate their quality/craftsmanship. Whenever I pick up a utilitarian gun I end up hating next it to the others. If you are used to and like the M2, get that as I guarantee the Stoeger just won't feel right.

Had an opportunity to closely inspect a 12ga Franchi Affinity today. Product quality/price perspective, I feel this would be a great compromise between a Stoeger and a Benelli given the small time use I have on mind.

The Franchi has much superior finish quality and balance compared to the Stoeger M3500. I felt the 3in chambered 12ga weight to be around +/- 6.5 lbs which is light enough to even carry on Upland hunts. Still the weight is sufficient enough to mitigate felt recoil from magnum 3in loads.

I would like to inspect the 20ga version before I decide which path to take.

Only thing I don't like about them is the recoil pad setup. That silly design precludes you from adding a different recoil pad like a Pachmayr etc,

Yes, the more conventional recoil pad design would've been nice. Still that isn't as weird as the one on Cynergy, for example. Anyway, having satisfied myself with product quality and fit of the Franchi, I finally went to the store with a plan to pick up a 12ga given the favourable weight of the shotgun. However, I decided to handle a 20 as well and eventually settled on that instead. Cabelas had employee disc promo that saved me $125 which isn't bad considering I had originally intended to pick up the Stoeger 3020.

never tried that model , but the m2000 was the first gun i bought , still got it , the only thing i ever had after 1500 round was the firing pin wich seemed to have worn out , send it were i bought it and got a your gun was dirty by the gunsmith there , when my gun was clean . ended at another place and they just shipped it back to stoeger and it came with a cheap saying that they did some adjustment , after that it was working like before , but ended up with a benelli Vinci so the stoeger didtn see any use after that , overall it a nice guns for the price
