Looking at picking up my first semi auto 12g to train with and hopefully try some 3gun events. At this point I don't want to sink a fortune into one and I am looking at the M3k or 930 JM which are basically identical in price. Id like to install a pinned mag tube extension to fit 5.5 3" shells.

Reviews go both ways out there.. Anyone been around these enough to shift me one way or another?
 
Both would need some work to run reliably. I used a JM 930 for a couple of years in 3 gun and it worked fine as long as it was clean(every 400-500 rounds). Mine was modded with OR 3-gun parts to work right. I eventually moved on to a Versamax modded for 3-gun and never looked back. Far more reliable than either of your 2 choices and can usually find a used one for a good price, got mine for $900
 
I have the mk3 and from the start never fail me with anything I put in it as long as you get handicap ammo with 3 dram of powder your good and if you use heavy load the recoil is very light, I got a plus 1 mag extension a match saver, modified the butt pad (I remove the point at the end to shoulder faster, this thing is amazing for the price.
