Stoeger M3K Gen 2 opinions?

I've been getting into shotguns a bit more lately, and I'm toying with the idea of picking up a Stoeger M3K gen 2 (3 gun version). From what I've read, there were some improvements made to the gen 2 in 2023 that addressed some common issues.

Can anyone here who has a gen 2 say if it's actually improved over the gen 1? Is the Benelli extractor and spring still a necessary upgrade on gen 2?

I'm kind of looking at using this for informal clay shooting with friends and just as a general fun gun. Nothing too serious. I don't hunt with my shotguns, and I'm drawn more towards tactical models so I really don't like barrels longer than 24". I'm hoping this will fit the bill. Mind you some people say it runs target loads perfectly, while others say it won't so I'm not really sure what to think.

Thanks

I bought a Gen 1 , I can't comment on the gen 2 but I hope its and improvement. I'm happy with the Beretta that replaced it.
When you mentioned target clay games might be involved keep in mind that some skeet/trap clubs won't allow barrel lengths shorter than 26"

The clay shooting would just be with friends, or when bringing new people to the range.

What kind of issues did you have if you don't mind me asking? I'm totally up for being talked out of buying one. Save me some money.

Did you do the break in with high power loads (buckshot etc ) for the first while and did you strip the gun down to clean all the internals of the packing grease?

I'm surprised no one else has chimed in. These Stoegers seem to be so divisive.

Yeap Cleaned it right away , broke it in with 250 rnds of slug and buck. Both my 3.5" versamax and the other 3" gas operated SG's had no issues with 2 3/4" 1290FPS target loads. I've come too the conclusion that I prefer gas over Interia , but thats not a knock against the Stoger .

That's a bummer. These guns get either rave or nightmare reviews. Hard to make a decision as I'd hate to get stuck with a lemon.

Did you by any chance try the Benelli extractor or recoil spring replacements?

Which gas gun(s) did you end up liking better? Only one I could maybe justify is the Winchester SX4. They seem to get really good reviews.

I got mine for 3 Gun and it runs winchester target load just fine. It chokes on the challenger stuff.

However, a friend wanted to borrow it to go after a goose or four and it will not eject 3 inch magnums. So I'm pretty unimpressed.

Edit: mine is a gen 1.
