Stoeger outback - opinions

Good point, whenever I try to shot my 28" 870 with turkey sights on, I always end up looking at the glowing sights and not the target.

To the Gentlemen who acquired the Outbacks - have you had an opportunity to check out the bbl regulation using slugs?

Also, are those 20ga models scaled or mated to 12ga receivers?

Thanks,

I'm finally getting around to posting this. :)

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS:

This is NOT a Browning o/u. You get what you pay for. My wife bought it as a "ride in the truck, behind the seat" gun. It should do very well for this purpose. Fit and finish are not too bad. I had to do a bit of filing in a few spots to loosen it up a bit. Very stiff to open and close. My wife had to put it across her knee to get it open and re-#### it before I smoothed it out.
I spent 20 minutes with a tube of "Flitz" and a rag to polish it up a bit.
The front ramp sight is mounted a little crooked on the barrel (cocked to the left a bit), but the gun shoots to center anyway. With 2 3/4" trap loads, the bottom of the pattern is right on top of the front sight at 25 yds. Point-of-aim can be brought down by filing the rear notch a bit. I will be leaving it as-is. Put the top of the sight at the grouse's feet and pull the trigger.
At 25 yds, the majority of the I/C barrel pellets were in a circle about 20", modified choke tube tightened it up to around 16"
I did not shoot any slugs as I have no intention of ever needing to use it with slugs.

I put 50 rounds through it at a fast pace. There were no failures to fire at all.
My major complaint is the crappy forend attachment system. 20 shots, and the forend came off in my hand. I'll have to address this problem over the winter.

All in all, not a bad little gun.
Should be fun at "Haggisfest 2009" in the "Tactical Trap" event

I'm curious as to whether or not this shotgun comes with choke tubes, and whether they're unique to Stoeger or can use others from Browning, Mossberg etc. If the gun were able to take a rifled choke tube, it might make for a nice double slug or slug/shot combination gun.

I bought one three weeks ago, 12 gauge blue and walnut. Its no citori but for the money its o.k. have around 300 rounds through it no problems. I shot a 21 at the 20 yard line on the trap field with mod. choke. Have not got to technical yet with sugs but did kill a five gallon bucket with about ten slugs no misses using both barrels, range around 40 yards. Does pattern nice with buckshot.
