Well, I was out for a drive with my wife on Saturday... stopping in places that sold shotguns to have a look around. Ended up at my local gun shop and got a good deal on a Stoeger shotgun. I get home and start to go through the box of goodies that came with it (chokes, etc). I see the registration card and thought, hey, better get this filled out and mailed in because you never know. Well.... I thought Stoeger was an American company.... and then I noticed that the registration card has their Canadian address on it (cool).... then I started reading the card to fill it out....

I just hope the firearms design and manufacturing departments are better than their stationary design and development departments. f:P:

I have talked to Stoeger Canada a couple times. I feel this is concurrent with their over all operation.

My Franchi warranty card offered 7 years of warranty, which is only valid in the US... Doesn't do us much good!! No mention of the Canadian warranty period. Very, Very poor.

I've been to their Whitby location as it's also the Beretta/Benelli/Stoeger/etc warranty centre. Also dealt with them by mail. They're a pain to get a hold of, but once they have your firearm in their possession they're quick and have good communication. I had my firearm returned within a week both times.

If I had seen the warranty card before I purchased I probably would have changed my mind. There just isn't an excuse for this sort of thing in this day and age, from a North American company. I just hope that the shotgun functions properly and I don't have any issues. The LGS did say that if I had any problems with it I could bring it back to him and he would take care of everything, so I do have that bit of comfort.

I've been reading mixed reviews of Stoeger support. Some people say terrible, some people say great. I guess I have to take that with a grain of salt. Mastermind's reply gives me some comfort if things go south; thanks for weighing in.

I've even ordered non-cataloged Beretta parts from them. Again they are very difficult to get a hold of by phone or email from my experience. You have to keep calling until you get someone answering the phone. Once you have the direct contact info of someone it's fine. The alternative is to show up at their door like I did, ring the buzzer for the Service/Parts Dept and speak directly to the gun smith or the parts manager. The building is somewhat discrete and kind of hard to find.
