Where to start. If you don't have a firearm loaded at the ready you're already lacking in mindset and behind the power curve
So... to recap. You are storing your firearms loaded.
Those are the CFC regulations on storage of non rest firearms
==
[Storage of Non-Restricted Firearms] 5. (1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if
(a) it is unloaded;
(b) it is
(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device,
(ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or
(iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and
(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into.
(2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws.
(3) Paragraph (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting.

Notice how there are exemptions for b and c, but not for a?
Also, yes, i am willing to bet my life on the fact that I will not have dozen armed and trained individuals trying to break in resulting in me having to tactically use my pump to clear all the rooms, or even reload at all.
Wake up. You sound like a bloody mall ninja who gets covered in cold sweat from a raccoon scratching on the door, jumps out, and "pies" every single door way in his full Blackhawk get up to "neutralize the threat".
I actually worry you will end up blasting away your neighbor through the door when they knock at night for whatever harmless reason... like being out of salt or something.
As for prices on break action shotguns. I paid $60 for H&R my single. Action on that thing will outlive any pump that is currently in production right now. After countless years oh firing everything the bore is still mirror like. As for follow up shots? Max attackers there might be is 2-3. While number 1 is laying with a bunch of shot in his gut, other are running or getting hit on the head with the stock. And trust me, you aint wanna get hit in the head with it. Just the barrel alone weights more than the M305 i used to have.

<-and this is also you.
