Rthook, the saying goes "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". I am not here to slag the Stoeger. I did have one in 28 gauge for a short while, and I got rid of it.
Looking at your recent posts, it is clear that you are looking for a nice, affordable small gauge SxS. You have good taste in shotguns, but have discovered that good, sub gauge SxS's are not the least expensive guns on the market. My advice is to save your money and double your budget. At that level there are several options which will give you what you want. The lowest end SxS's, especially in smaller gauges, do not possess the handling qualities, balance and finesse that set the breed apart.
In the meantime, I offer you the following review of the CZ / Huglu model Bobwhite. I hope the information helps you in your search.
A very good question. It may have to do with the need to pay for the tooling and labour over a smaller production run (the 20 gauge sells in larger numbers). Personally, I think it is part of a secret, international agreement between gunmakers.
As for the Yildiz guns, I have only held them at gun shows so I really cannot compare them to the CZ / Huglus. We would like to do a review of the Yildiz SxS's, but so far we have no guns. (Actually, we want to do a review of the David McKay Brown round action, but can't get ahold of one of those either.)
