Does anyone have a Stoeger Uplander? I have one in 20g and fired the first rounds through it today and they wouldn't extract. As I was in the bush duck hunting, I trimmed a branch and popped them out.

I will try it with upland loads next time when I go for grouse, but thinking I may need to polish the chambers. The Kent steel shells wouldn't extract.

Stuck extractor. Clean it and oil it. Stoeger makes horrible break barrel shotguns, there were 100 better options for not much more.
Their Semi-Auto’s are some of the best cheap shotguns on the market though.

I polished the chambers today, it is much better now. I also removed the extractor, found that the main rod was bent, so I straightened that. Took a fine round file and removed a few burrs in the channel where it rides as well as a pin used to help hold the barrels in the monoblock was not flush with the channel and helping to bind the extractor. I also file trimmed the sides of the extractor where they meet the monoblock.

Long story short, I can extract the fired shells now with my fingers. They do not come out as easily as my old Cooeye single shot, but at least I dont need a cleaning rod to remove them.

Probably heading out again tomorrow, I'll try with live rounds and see if it is better.

"there were 100 better options for not much more. " Can you elaborate? The only ones I could find at the LGS was the Stoeger and the CZ, but they said they had many more problems with the CZ and wouldnt order it. They also had a Beretta,I believe, but way out of my budget. I wanted a side by side in 20 or 28 due to reduced recoil. The 28 was back-ordered with no date in sight and built on a 20g frame, so no weight savings, really.

My 870 is still the best, most reliable shotgun I have ever owned and it still serves me well for ducks and geese.

I have both Stoeger and CZ(huglu). No problems with the 12 Mallard O/U....except the birds laugh at me...i suck with shotguns.

There are really very few moving parts in break action shotguns. If you follow shotgun forums or Google for info many times its gun snobs...."B" gun owners. The true weakness for Stoeger is the bluing...i suggest a dehumidifier and spray varathane for the metal....alternately 4/0 steel wool and true blue. Can you feel the cringe of the 3k "B" owners.

Currently i have a 410 SXS, uplander, choked F/F.....for ditch swatting of Fool hens. A 20 ga O/U. Tough to be a waterfowl hunter with a Stoeger....other than the $2500《 initial $price.

I dont consider a gun snob but running skeet programs at my local ranges has taught me alot. Ive seen and used alot of different guns over the years. Some turkish guns are well made. Others are not. Ive seen far fewer brownings and berettas break down then other makers. Suggesting a gun maker with a proven record and one with parts easily available and easy to replace should not be seen as a bad thing.
I do own own several turkish double guns and have had others before. Dickinson and huglu branded huglus are top shelf turkish. Followed by churchill when it comes to double guns. Ive seen and owned enough lower end turkish and Brazilian guns to avoid them

If your goal is high volume shooting. Invest in a quality firearm. If sporadically used for hunting and informal clays then one may risk it in hopes of getting a decent gun

Best of luck
