My girlfriend and I have been bow hunting in WMU 77, just west of Alliston, Ontario and just north of Highway 50.
The property owner has just called to tell me that he went to check the deer feeder and it has been stolen!
The feeder is a Moutrie, 30 gallon, which sits on a tripod.

It absolutely sickens me with the fact that people steal in general, but what also sickens me is that this is the first year my girlfriend's son has taken an interest in hunting and the outdoors, instead of computer games and television.

We all went to the store to purchase the feeder with her son picking it out. Her son and I both assembled the feeder together, set it up in the woods and for the first time he has been asking to go check the feeder instead of staring at a computer screen or television.
It has been an absolute joy going out with him showing him different aspects of the woods and getting a lot of questions and interest in return.

Now I am sitting here wondering how to explain where the feeder is and that it was stolen.

Am I to put out our treestands to be stolen and ruin a young boys interest in the outdoors.

My girlfriend and I have recently moved, but purposely got our tags in this area so that her son, which lives with his father could be close and share this year's hunting experience.

This is more of a rant than anything, but I can not believe that people have such little ethics to steal.

I am not stopping till I find out where that feeder is. I just hope that my girlfriend's son still keeps his interest.

This kind of thing makes me livid.I had a ladder stand stolen a couple years back, and was thinking " if only a guy could catch them in the act".After cooling off I realized its probably best I didnt,if you know what I mean.Hope it still works out with the kid.

C'mon Ike, you can't shoot a deer without a feeder...:p

Crazytrout, I know you are pissed cause some POS stole your feeder, but don't let that stop you from taking the young lad out. When he is in the stand and the first deer walk by, he will forget all about the feeder...;)

People do crimes usually where they feel safe, which is close to home. Take a look around, and get the word out about the unit and anything special about it. Make the person uncomfortable enough about the word being out and maybe it'll be found at the end of a laneway or the property driveway.

GL on your future hunt, both the deer, and the feeder!

That really sucks, but you should try and make the best of the hunting season with the boy and show him that a set back can be overcome.

Good luck this season and good for you for taking a kid hunting.

This is the same reason I won't buy and place a game camera or leave my pop up blind set up. Some people seem to have a compulsion to steal gear in the woods that they normally wouldn't in other situations. Either way consider it a set back keep the young fella motivated by getting him some Jim Shockey DVD's with lots of successful hunts and toss out some apples at your set. People are usually too lazy to pick em up.

Good Luck Man!

Don't know what to say about the feeder, but as far as the kid goes, good for you! I love hearing stories about kids in the outdoors, and I am confident that when you get over this loss you will find a way to substitute it.

What I think of the folks that stole your feeder isn't fit to print!
put yer stands up and lock them in place...
show the kid that being determined and steadfast in your goal is part of being a hunter.
As much as being thieved from sucks it's just like a bad wind at a hot spot or a cold and rainy day!
make the best of it and keep going ;)
