I got an email from the gentleman who runs our junior trap shooting program. His trap gun was stolen from his acreage early yesterday morning. Gun is a Perazzi MX2000RS. Serial number 132331. This is a combination set with a bottom single barrel and a double barrel that fits the same receiver.

This gentleman is one of the good guys. Has run the junior trap program at the Winnipeg Trap and Skeet club for years and has done much to help the sport. Please keep an eye out for this gun

Mods, if this is not the place for this post, feel free to move it.

Not sure on all the details but the thieves broke into the attached garage and some outbuildings. A sizeable amount of ammunition was also stolen. This is the second time he’s been hit and he thinks he was targeted.

When the thief is picked out of a police lineup:

Did he notify all the pawn shops in the area with serial number and police file number? Not sure if this is standard procedure, but I'd do that if I were him.

Also, put up an alert on classified sites to know when a new shotgun is put for sale in the guage of the shotgun that was stolen (the kijiji's of this world that allow firearm sales).

Hope it's recovered intact

David

I can help you out. A new MX2000 will run you around $15k while a combo is well over $20k. A used combo would be around $15k.
You don't normally see a lot of used ones in stores but they're often not that hard to find online or by word of mouth if your looking hard enough. However it would be foolish for someone to sell a stolen one just due to the very low numbers on the market, it's not like theyre an 870 or a Cooey.
