Stolen trail camera - Sandilands Provincial Forrest Manitoba around Marchand Park

Drop a hundred dollar bill on a sidewalk, how long would it stay there ? Duh Never ceases to amaze me how people can leave things on public property and expect them to be there, weeks later.

Grizz

As I said... I knew the risk... I've had it out on crown land for the majority of this year with a little break in between after the end of spring bear season and it didn't get stolen until the other day.

It's not an 100$ bill... it's a trackable camera that sends pictures remotely that is useless to anyone other than the original purchaser. Obviously not everyone would know this but for those who do it would be a deterrent.

I made a calculated risk to get info off of the land and in the end it didn't pay off although I did get some cool pictures... Are we done with the victim blaming?

Chances are he frequents that area and if you go there on the weekend and just sit and park close to a thoroughfare, you will see the truck again. Trick is what are you going to do, Is a 100.oo camera worth a physical confrontation? Maybe get a description and plate number and send to authorities.

It's definitely worth a few flat tires on the truck if you ever seen it again.

They said if they try to activate the camera they'll be able to forward the information to the local police. I don't know why someone would steal a trackable camera that transmits photos directly to someone's phone. You'd have to be an absolute r3tard.

Because the brains cells that fire the sensory cells didnt fire in the correct order.
Scum will be scum.

hope you get your camera back. that is why I'm a bit leary about setting one up in my hunting area. my friend had one stolen a high-end one. he was totally upset about it.

Side note, Sandilands has to have the highest number of cameras per capita..LOL It should be a camera thief's windfall. I quit wandering around and hunting there for that reason. But you should be able to spot the vehicle if you spend some time there. As you know, there are not that many ways in or out of there.

I'm not surprised it was stolen but im definitely pissed it was stolen... lots of people went by it... not many noticed it. There's generally not many people back there until rifle season for deer starts. Unfortunately I was a day late retrieving it.

Archery season is 2.5 months. That's why it was out there for "months on end".

The camera was placed there because there was lots of tracks there and the fact you can get a truck there is obviously pretty convenient for getting an animal out by yourself...

Maybe hunting with a Harvestor's licence, that deer season seems to last about 3 month's plus I'm told your allowed 2 deer, 1 moose & 1 bear.

Sorry to hear about your loss - have had them stolen and recently this spring great picture of a truck used to B/E on my deer property. Lots of scumbags out there.

For the most part now, I bring an extendible ladder and put the camera about 14 - 16 feet up in a tree, angled downwards. I would suggest you do what has been suggested here - get a $60 Amazon camera and put up high in a tree to see if he comes back to the same spot. I use lithium AA batteries and a 32 GB card, will last all winter and up to 7000 pictures.

I have a bunch of the Amazon cameras - the best was the Campark T20 but not available anymore - these are similar https://www.amazon.ca/Pack-Trail-Ca...efix=t20+TRAIL+CAMERA,black-friday,224&sr=1-5)
