Hello,
I came across a used, but in VG-Exc. shape Stolle Panda LV class, in 6PPC w. McLennan bbl, low round count. It has a 36x Weaver target scope as well for $2200. Was thinking this might be good way to see if I want to get into serious BR shooting. If nothing else would be terrific rig for 100-200yd shooting to see how well I can do. It should shoot better than my current battery of Varmint rifles. Any comments on this rifle, price, or should I look at building new from ground up? Thanks for looking. :)

Sounds like a good price. Pandas are still a popular choice in short range BR. All the more if it is in a Left bolt, right port configuration. Who made the stock?

If there is any life left in the barrel, it will make you want to throw away all your field guns....

Not sure of the stock maker; it is fibreglass, similar to others I've seen on this site, but not a McMillan like yours. ( now yours is a fine looking rifle! :) ), typical BR style, glued in. Not being a LH shooter, I like the RB LP better. ;) The bbl counts is supposed to be at 300. That's my worry.....throw out the other firearms; they will just not be to par.

Looked at the stock again....looks a lot like a Kelbly.

They are a beautiful action for sure. PPC bolt face limits your choices for future cartridges, but if you want to get into short range Benchrest, the 6ppc is the cartridge to beat.

Not sure if you could even buy the action alone for that price.

Geez, now I have to quote my myself here. I meant to say all the better if it is in a RB/LP!

If you don't want it, I am sure somebody else will at that price, myself included, especially if it is a decent stock. Can you post a few pics?

Lots of people build BR rifles today with a BR boltface since it will still pull a PPC. You might want to measure it to see if it is .473 or a PPC, of which I don't remember the diameter at this time. Of course Kelbly's will sell you an extra bolt, or at least they used to. Just give the action s/n.

Easy enough to open the boltface if you decide to build a BR or whatever while still being able to use the PPC. Regards, Bill
