Stop a T-rex with a 10mm?

According to Cartridges of The World a factory load 38 Special 150 LRN bullet at 890 fps has an energy value of 270 ME.
A 22 LR Stinger 32 grain HP at 1640 fps has an energy value of 191 ME. Similar?? Not unless you've failed math IMHO.
Unless the laws of physics are especially different for the GTA, the above figures speak for themselves.

Typical .38spl factory loads:
130gr JHP @ 800-890fps (185-229 ft-lb energy)
158gr SWC @ 755 fps (200 ft-lb)

.22 LR:
32gr stinger @ 1640 fps - 191 ft-lb
30gr aguila @ 1750 fps - 204 ft-lb

So yes, similar. Oh, and since you brought it up, i actually happen to have an honours degree in mathematics.

What does any of this have to do with the original question again?

I did read another article comparing hardcast and the XTP’s and it stated that the hardcast will usually pass right through without doing much damage. So I opted for the XTP’s and picked them up at Wholesale today along with some blue dot.

You should really consider using 800x. This powder is proven to produce the highest velocities at lowest pressures in 10mm.
The only downside of 800x is that each charge must be weighted, as it's incredibly inconsistent in powder measures.

Check out the stickies on this forum - lots of info.

I'll politely remind you that you, yourself brought this up in the first place.
Maybe you've forgotten that? Somewhere under that honours degree perhaps.

If you went back and read my post carefully , you would see that it was brought up merely as an example of case capacity not always being proportional to the energy of a given cartridge... It was not meant to start a s**t throwing fest. But some people decided to take it out of context and start it anyway.
You would also see that it was a reply to an already off-topic post.

I think someone would be nuts to use a 10mm on big game such as tyrannosaurus rex. What if you got it angry?

T-rex are reptiles that have very thick skin covered in scales, weigh over 7 tons, and are over 40 feet long. Even if you managed to penetrate the 4 to 5 feet necessary to reach a vital organ, being a reptile it would likely just keep after you unless you blew its head off. Plus even 10mm is small when you figure its heart alone is probably as large as a full grown adult man.

You might think that by taking both eyes out with a 10mm, you'd at least blind it and be safe. But nooooo, the T-rex has an amazing sense of smell and able to pursue prey by smell alone.

Yeah, but we're not talkin' just any old 10mm either. This is the 10mmMAGNUM in a GLOCK 20 no less! It has umpteen bazillion foot grams of energy contained in each and every magazine!

They are a bit heavy though........ but you can kick any t-rex's ass with it! The internet says so.;)

Well Skyhawk, what you don’t seem to realize is that the T-rex has a small brain and thinks he’s the predator. As the blind rex is in hot pursuit of B and I, we can’t help but to stay well ahead of him as we are rockin Roces. We are sagging hard in the waist from all the extra plastic, we bust fat backwards grinds doing epic IPSC reloads on our G20’s, the sound of brass hitting the ground. The rex is not following the smell of fear but Blue Dot.

As Ben, ZZ, Brutus and Mlehtovaara come out of a football huddle ready for action with their best guns and best reloads, Ben slaps everyone on the ass with some last words of encouragement because he’s the guy you don’t f**k with.

B and I are leading this helpless rex into hell fire. We break the corner just in time because we are both down to half a mag. ZZ leads out with “welcome to the thunder dome son” and the rex goes down with no glory.

Later that night we baste the world’s biggest chicken wing with hot sauce and bull’s-eye over our camp fire. Smokin Cubans, Drinking 40 year port and making a toast to Keith.

It was all in a day’s fun… happy Sunday
