Stopping a charging bear.

Because people like salmon and hunting too, and most aren't as afraid as the vast majority of CGN'rs. Most wouldn't even be able to go to the garbage dump in Mackenzie FFS, AAAHHHH grizzly bears...

I take my salmon from the sea & have no worries bout bears. On the trail, the stupid fooks with poorly trained dogs and idiot assed helmet heads on bicycles are the main worry. We have grizz on the North Island now that are bound to give grief to some folks fer sure.

You don't understand ShellShucker people in Northern BC are a special kind of ruff and tuff. [/sarcasm]

Because people like salmon, hunting, berry picking, hiking, camping, photography or whatever floats your boat , and most aren't as afraid as the vast majority of CGN'rs. Most wouldn't even be able to go to the garbage dump in Mackenzie FFS. There's more bears in northern BC than people. If outdoorsy people thought like most on here do about bears, there wouldn't be a soul out in the bush around here.

This.

For all the flack those wimpy granola crunches get on this website they tramp all around bear country all the time with no worries. Their only though to "bear defense" is some spray and talking loudly in bear country. Compare that to some CGNers who for some reason can't take a stroll in grizz country with anything less than the best "bear defense" rifle.

Thete are reports of people being mauled by bears. Those people would be better off if they had weapons or something as protection.

Of course, majority of hikers or campers don't have bear encounters.
