My understanding from the CFSC is that I can store my guns in a secure (locked) closet/cabinet and that I don't have to have an actual gun safe. Is that correct?

yep, its not to prevent theft, just prevent easy access. restricted need to be locked in a locked box, ie trigger locked in a locked closet, but not in a safe.

Great, thanks. I just set-up my gun cabinet! Now I just have to wait for my rpal and pal. That should only take a few years, right? :p:D

i would get a safe if you plan to acquire a decent collection, further down the road. and go big, it will fill up fast and you can always use it to keep other secure documents, passports, cash and such. apparently its about 45 days door to door right now.

45 days my ass. took just under 2 years for me, and ive NEVER had any problems with the law, or any other reason for my pal to be in question. i bought a small gun safe when i bought my first firearm, now i need a bigger one. i use my closet and dresser for none restricted's

Just under 2 years? Holy ####. That's ridiculous. Why in the world did it take so long?

3 inch think titanium walls are a good start

If it's for non-restricteds, and it'd take ANY tool to defeat, it's locked. You took the cfsc course, the video shows a little broom closet, with a padlock. It's up to you what you are comfortable with reading the regulations. Personally, I use a stack on cabinet, in my basement (trigger locks on restricted), and an inexpensive safe made by "Safewell" for my Glock without a trigger lock. That meets the minimum standards as set by the firearms act. The goal is to keep children and drunken uncles out of your guns. Thieves cannot be stopped. Search youtube, even safes costing a few thousand dollars can be defeated, sometimes surprisingly easily.
