storing 9mm reloads

A quick question,

Is it safe to have a bunch of loose 9mm reloads in a box instead of using proper boxes for storage?

The reason I ask is because I want to load up a pile of 9mm, but I only have 4 old factory boxes that I use to take to the range.

Never had a problem storing them in an army surplus storage can, you might want pick up some MTM plastic cases from a gun shop as it makes life a little easier ie; was that 9 or 10 I just put in the mag.

I just put them in ziplock bags. Can't be bothered putting them in 50 rd boxes, just to dump them out again when I load the magazines.

Ya, I use ziplocks alot too! Occasionaly put them in the box though !

i use the same styrofoam and cardboard job the bullets come in- i've got some still around from the 90's- a little cellophane tape maintaince when they start to rip- the other reason i'll use an mtm is so i can limit the number of rounds i shoot when i'm pressed for time- to load, fire, bring back and tape in 5 shot strings -100 rounds takes roughly 2 hours, lastly, bell rounds from south africa come in PLASTIC BOXES- if a little company overseas can do that, etc

I found a few old boxes of Winchester Value packs that I think are only available in the states now. When I opened them up they were all thrown loosely in one box directly from the Winchester factory.

Every other time I go to the range, I grab half a dozen 9mm plastic containers from the garbage bins - they are very useful for holding 223 rounds in the upright position during reloading. There are tons and tons of those styrofoam and PET containers in any range's garbage. You can stack them, use one as a cover for another, or put them in some kind of box (I found that plastic food containers with airtight lid is very convenient, specially the ones that hold exactly two 9mm containers).

Dido! When going to the range with .223 I slide that styrofoam tray into an empty brick of .22. fits perfectly!

I use plastic bags for pistol and one of the cheap electronic scales you can buy now is great for counting rounds.

I have a few of those "Case Guard" plastic reloading/ammo boxes, thay hold 50 or 100 rounds (2 diff. sizes)

As for storing reloads. If I don't put them in the plastic or styrofoam. I throw them in a laundry bag net. WHen I pick up the brass, the sand don't come back with me.
