Storing a trap gun in BC

I'm moving to Vancouver from Ontario, and I've just learned that the apartment building I'll be renting in has a strict no firearms policy. (It's on a university campus.) So, this puts me in a dilemma--I've been looking forward to shooting trap at the Vancouver Gun Club and/or the Port Coquitlam Hunting and Fishing Club, but now I'm uncertain where to store my trap gun. I'll be contacting those clubs directly to see if they have on-site storage, but if they don't, does anyone know if there is a secure public gun storage service at some area gun shop etc?

(Notably, I'm told that the DVC Indoor Shooting Centre does indeed have onsite storage for members, but I assume only for handguns, though I'll be checking that out as well.)

what gun? :)
brake it down , keep it in a smaller case. its not the law, its a rule. or rent a diffrent place. lots of places to rent around ubc or sfu.

poco does not have firearm storage, and i'm 99.9 % sure vancouver club does not ither.

dvc might, but what your going to pay for storage there, you might as well rent a better apartment rather then at the university.

PRetty sure that VGC does not store guns, there there are lots of really good guys that would store it for you, too bad all the nice guys at that club shoot sporting or skeet, not trap ;)

It's a Remington 1100. Sure, I could break it down and conceal inside a case that does not look like a gun case (which I do at my present apartment building), and sure I could defy the university rule. But I recognize that some of the people in the university will have issues with the presence of a firearm, and I'll respect that.

Thanks for the tips about the lack of other storage services in Poco. Right now, my main option appears to be storing it at a friend's house off-campus. It'll be inconvenient, but it's not the end of the world.

Not to be a smart as* but how will people in the university have 'issues' with your firearm if you keep it on the QT? It is your property so it is none of their business.

@HR: You bet, we'll see each other on the range in Poco eventually. I'll be there in September shooting... badly. (It's why I'm so popular on the range -- I'm an ego rush for everyone else.)

@Shootshellz: I'll be living in a graduate residence, and I would be taking my equipment through the halls/elevator/campus month after month. Keeping it on the QT in that kind of a habitation hothouse that long is not realistic. And, given Canadian universities' views on firearms on campus, the career ramifications of being found in contravention of the rule would be severe and long-lasting. I'll be abiding by the rule completely.

That is spoken like someone who has never had the pleasure of living in residence.

IME, university residences have exceptionally poor key control and immature and irresponsible residents with little to no respect for an individual's personal property. The OP is wise to not attempt gun storage in residence.

If the OP tried to keep a shotgun (in residence) a secret, and it remained a secret, that would be truly noteworthy.

Don't risk it, I graduated from UBC and I can tell you, UBC is a very Liberal minded campus, people WILL freak out if they even hear the word "gun". Go to the Vancouver gun club, make some friends there, there are a lot of old timers who's out there every weekend. I'm sure one of them can store your gun for you.

Cheers.

Even though the law alows you something, it does not negate the rues of a privately owned residence or other establishment.

Italn Sporting Goods in East Vancouver advertises firearms storage. I would call and ask them if they can accommodate you.
