I was packing my canoe' bag, & bringing along the Henry AR7. Would you consider it all apart, in the stock, ammo Separate, in the pack, in the house, Safe Storage? With it's unique storage, all apart inside the stock, would it be considered 'Safe' tucked inside the pack, {zipper locked?} until the A.M? ..or Would the end stock' piece have to be locked in someway? Thnx

The internet knows everything! Find the RCMP's bulletin for transportation of non restricted firearms. I think the intent is to keep firearms from lying around loose and too easy to steal or be loaded by someone unintended. If the bag the firearm is stored in has a lock, then the condition of 'out of reach' has been met. I would never recommend removing a component and keeping it separate. Just too easy to lose something.

Not for Transporting. Are you familiar with the AR 7? It comes apart into 3 pieces, 4 with mag. You have to manually screw in the barrel, then manually attach the stock to the receiver. & all fits into the 'Floating' stock. It's a few' steps, & takes some know how. {of sorts} Most people wouldn't even be aware there is a firearm inside the stock. So ALL components are inside/stored in the stock, so nothing would be separated. As per the uniqueness of this firearm when stored in the stock, is why I'm asking, in above scenario.

Yes I know what an AR7 is. Yes it has its own case. But, the feds write regulations for all firearms. Putting it into a case meets that specific language. In the OP's example, a zippered enclosed backpack which can be locked, seems like a case to me. But, hey, I have been known to be wrong on the Internet. Your choice how to proceed.

If the firearm is with you it does not have to be locked or taken apart! It cannot be loaded during transport but techn ically can be on the front seat of ur car fully assembled. Moose and deer hunters drive with their guns on the front seat from one hunting spot to another. I have been stopped by both game wardens and Provincial police numerous times with different firearms in my vehicle. Never any problems. Unloaded, Cased after legal hunting hours and locked if not being attended and out of sight if possible with vehicle being locked if not attended.

Storage requirements for a non-restricted firearm are easy to understand.
Basically:
Unloaded, and,
Disabled by a secure locking device, or,
Removal of bolt, or,
Locked in a container.
Would an AR-7 disassembled in its stock meet the first or second conditions? No.
That leaves a secure container as an option.

Thnx for the replies guys. I was just talking about in the House, not during any type of 'Transporting'..awaiting to leave in the morning. Packed in my Canoe bag, sitting by the front door, Until the A.M. As it sits, even apart, the Bolt is still in etc. So I guess that answers that. I had a thought if being all apart, in the stock, may play a role, but locking the Pack, would be the way to go. But being a Soft case...I wasn't sure either. lol. Mehh..I just left it in the safe all night lol. It's always at the Top/last thing in my pack anyway. Cheerz .. ~
