Storing Handguns

Yes.

In my locked gun room, in the locked safe, in the locked transport carrier, with trigger lock. It's overkill I know, but as trebor2880 said, if I don't I could forget to put it on before heading to the range.

The rest is pretty much overkill, but it's the way i prefer it. My choice.
 
i do.locked room,gun safe(crappy tire steel cabinet) trigger locks. im gonna get beats now but arent they supposed to be trigger locked and in a locked box,and out of sight? (restricted storage

funny.we just wrote almost the same thing at the same time...and you like guns too? are you..my long lost brother? :)
 
I store mine without a trigger lock. I ensure the gun is clear before leaving the range, then again when I get home while putting it in the safe after removing the trigger lock, then again when removing a gun from the safe before dry fire practice or putting the trigger lock on for transport.

I'd feel more than a bit uncomfortable if I only ensured my gun was clear at the range safety area. Sure I could remove the trigger lock before putting it in the safe, clear it, then put it on again. But that's a hassle and not required by law. Plus I might get lazy and just leave the trigger lock on without performing ACTS & PROVE at home.
 
Handguns in a 4000 pound security safe plus trigger locks. Rifles in a locking steel cabinet, bolts removed and trigger locks. Lever actions have cable running through action. Overkill? But the cash outlay is cheap in comparison to firearm confiscation and a criminal record - or worse - having them stolen and used to hurt somebody.
 
In a cabinet handguns must be trigger locked by law.

In a safe they do not have to be, however as has already been suggested it just makes one more thing to remember when packing up to go to the range, and it could be a very costly mistake to forget to trigger lock your handgun for transport.

I trigger lock all my guns regardless.

It's overkill, but gives me piece of mind, and I never have to worry about coming home from the range, or hunting and just throwing my stuff on the floor for awhile.
 
I trigger/cable lock everything - non restricted & restricted, in the safe or in a case. That way, there's no chance of confusion or forgetting. Routine & habit.
