Storm case iM3100 in stock-special

Another Steiger owner? Wow...not too many of us around anymore. :) She's an '86 CR1280 with the 280hp Cat 3406 and just over 6000 hours. Just about time to turn her out to pasture also, but the new ones just don't seem to be getting any cheaper.

Plus nobody else uses that ever so distinctive color either. :puke:

How much for the foam? It's not much good without it.

actually the great thing about buying it without the foam is you can get a softcase to go IN the hardcase with the gun in the soft case, so for example if your flying you gun meets fly regulations and when you get to your destination you have the nice soft case to carry it around in.... cause face it, hard cases suck for just going to the range.

This man knows what he is talking about.

I have a Storm iM3100 with the foam custom cut for my AR180B. It's looks great in the case, and is really durable, but for just general use, it's pretty bulky. Also, with the custom cut foam, I've now made my case only useful with one rifle. I'm likely going to start getting soft cases now and using them in the hard case when it's needed.

That being said, I love my Storm case, they are amazing!

Storm cases are much better than pelican cases. I got my first storm case a couple months ago and I will never buy another Pelican.

BTW a foam kit for a M3200 is $160 USD, so probably $140USD

I'd buy one if foam was available :(

Curious ...

Hi,

Several months ago I bought an AR-specific Pelican case in the U.S. and I cannot imagine any other case being better-designed or more rugged. It was about $200, with the foam (naturally) included.

What is it (in your opinion) about the Storm case (which I've never handled) that makes it so much better?

In my opinion, the latch system is far superior. It's a push button latch, instead of the camming latch on the Pelicans. You CAN NOT open the latches without pushing the little button.

The rolling wheels are rollerblade wheels with bearings, and the handles are comfortable with a rubber over mold. The Storm cases are just generally better, in my opinion. Have a look at one and I'm sure you will agree.

I agree with u but how about waterproof wise?? I have a storm case and looking at the sealings i wouldnt trust if it ever got submerged in water .

I have checked on shipping to various Canadian locales with DHL and Canada Post. Post runs from $28-$40 and DHL runs from $40-$50. As DHL is far more convenient for us we can offer their ground service with tracking # for $35.00 to all points in Canada.

We do not have foam available for these.

Total cost including case, shipping and GST is $194.25 landed at your door.

Thanks to all for interest. If you wish to order please email at rs@pgwdti.com

Dealers are allowed to have their product discussed in the forums

Sure, but this thread was started by a dealer and amounts to a sales ad. It's an anouncement, not a discussion. Does this mean that I can now "discuss" stuff that I have for sale here instead of the EE?

I'm not knocking the thread itself, just the location. Hell, it sounds like a good deal and if I had the cash I'd jump on it.

Storm vs Pelican

Hmmm ... I remain unconvinced ... especially bearing-in-mind the comparative out-the-door prices for comparably-sized foam-equipped products.

Stronger latches? I prefer simple designs, and most folks use padlocks (on an AR it is the law) so "popping open" is a moot point.

Wheels? Both companies use top-of-the-line ball-bearing-equipped wheels.

Cushier handles? Well, OK ...

I think that this is another example of the classic Law of Diminishing Returns that's so evident these days in everything from mountain bikes to binoculars ... with many folks merrily paying 50 to 300 % more for an item that's perhaps 6 % better than its otherwise-excellent competitor. And I'm occasionally guilty of it too ... witness my Marine Magnum (as opposed to a Mossberg Maverick) sitting in my $12 000 rowboat.

(And I'm not wealthy ... I drive an eight-year-old Hyundai Accent which does a fine job 99.9 % of the time.)

Why do we do this? Here's a great quote ... "There's a certain go-to-hell joy about owning something that's made a whole lot better than it needs to be."

I like this thinking! Just sent off an email for the storm case...

What soft case are are you using for a AR15?? Nothing local even comes close to fitting mine???

On edit: Found the Voodoo tactical bag at One Shot, I have an order waiting there so Darren gets some more of my money...

Thanks

Somebody has been watching the extras on the Magpul DVDs :p

Um, why are you submerging the case? I trust mine to be waterproof to the point I'd need it to be. I have transported my case, with rifle in it, in the back of my open pickup during a rain storm with no worries or issues. This was a 4 hour drive with intermittent rain most of the way. Ranging from a good down pour to misting.

Hardigg Storm Testing Results
Simulated Rainfall: Four inches of rain per hour for 20 minutes each side. This was followed by a 4-hour test at 4” per hour on the top.
Both tests saw the case heated to 18°F higher than the water temp.

Immersion: A 1-meter (3.281 feet) immersion for 1-hour with the case being heated to 40°F higher than the water temperature.

I'm having a custom soft case made up for my Tavor by Tiger Tactical to specifically fit my iM3100.

They had a Tavor case already that fits the iM3100 but I wanted a few minor changes to add a some extra bells and whistles.
