Storm Lake or Lone Wolf for Glock 26?

Got my Glock 27 today with Lone Wolf barrel... I have the say the barrel looks amazing!

Absolutely no visible machining marks whatsoever AND the semi-circle cut on the bottom lug (for the recoil rod) looks factory!! WOOT!
I got the black-oxide finish so the wolf logo is also on the bottom side (out of view). It's hot!

It does stick out an awful lot though, but, we live in Canada so beggars can't be choosers. I am happy and would recommend a Lonewolf barrel to anyone (I am sure it shoots fine) ;)

:D

I received my Glock 23 with 106mm Lone Wolf Barrel a couple of days ago and I have had about 20 failure to feeds in a hundred rounds. It appears that factory hollow points in particular cause it to jam up. I've also noticed a lot of galling on the various parts of the barrel. And even found steel shavings in it after my shoot tonight! I will be sending it back to Questar with an order for a Storm lake barrel. This is to be my carry gun for trips to the states and I can't have an unreliable gun for protection or tac courses...I'm more interested in reliability than extreme accuracy! Do the Storm lake barrels more readily accept hollow point rounds, in particular Federal Hydra-shock? Does anyone out there shoot hollow points through these Lone wolf or Storm Lake barrels? I'm not interested in lead bullets, it'll be a long time before I reload anything. I compared the feed ramp on a factory Glock barrel and a storm lake to this one and found the feed ramp on the Lone wolf to be really steep compared to a factory barrel why would this be? Also the storm lake and Glock barrels are shaved away and rounded almost all the way around the chamber. In my limited experience it looks to me like this would allow it to feed much better, less sharp edges!

The one suggestion I might give is, especially on the Glock 26 and Glock 27 models is the ported barrels.

All of the aftermarket barrels will handle lead quite well (if you want to use it)... you don't have to go jacketed... plated also work if that's your preference.

Just a note on ported and lead/plated - don't do it. I have a ported 19C barrel. With either lead or plated bullets, the amount of spray coming out of the ports is enough to bounce off of the concrete ceiling (range) and nail the guy shooting next to me. I expect that the lead/plating shaves off going through the ports.

All you have to do is contact us and we'll be happy to resolve any issue. Send it back, along with a detailed explanation (in the box) of what issues you're having and specifically what it's doing wrong and what ammunition is causing the issue.

Nothing but Success.

I have two Lone Wolf barrels for my G17. The factory Glock barrel is fine for shooting factory FMJ's too, but if you want to shoot lead, almost exclusively, you must replace the barrel as most of the previous comments have shown.
My LWD G34 length barrel is superb [I have a LWD G34 top end] as is my LWD standard length G17 barrel. The Questar guy is right and made many fine points. Many shooters will experience differences but my experience with my LWD barrels has been all good.
Their lands and grooves are clean and crisp and their muzzle crowning is excellent. My two LWD barrels are reliable with all the lead cast bullets I buy from Rick@ R&Rbullets@mountaincable.net. LWD barrels represent terrific value too.
I don't have to think twice about LWD quality. My plan is to get a nice used G22 and put a LWD G35 top end on it. LWD barrel too. Or maybe I will just buy a G35 and drop in a LWD 35 barrel. I have no qualms about it at all.

I'd like to note that as many people know Questar has been very service oriented and patient with my many calls and questions. I have no doubt that they will sort this matter out in a manner that will satisfy me. In fact they've already said this!! There prompt delivery time (Less than two weeks for an Ar-15 Upper) and good products and reputation are why I went with them for several products. And I will gladly order from them again when I need something else!!

I received my Storm Lake Barrel today and there is no comparison as to quality of machine and finish. I buffed the already shiny feed ramp oiled it up and put 100 rounds of hollow point, semi wad cutter and ball ammo through it without a hick-up! I was able to see where the front of each round was contacting the feed ramp and it was only slightly below the chamber unlike the Lone Wolf where it hit the bottom practically and than slid up and in. It also sits straight in the Glock 23 unlike the Lone wolf that was a hair off. It shoots incredibley well too. Definitely accurate!!
Thanks Questar.

On the flip side:

I ran 300rnds (FMJ) through my Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel this past weekend (barrel and mag swap only) without a single failure. I was actually able to put all 10rnds on a piece of paper at 50m too (low-center!) I was thoroughly impressed with the accuracy as I was expecting it to be off.
