Shamelessly I have posted this in a couple Canadian forums, apologies for that but once in a while a product and company comes along that is worth flouting for both the seller and buyer's benefit.

Just took delivery of this little Kni-Co Packer jr wood stove that I will be putting in an 8x8 7.5 oz canvas spike tent and thought I 'd share the joy.

This little sub 10 pound (have not wieght it but I'd guess under 10) package came up from a Kni-co for a total cost of 200 cdn dollars delivered. Very well made little stove nothing tin-ey about it and sits solid on it's legs.

The pipe all nests together nicely and is smartly made.

I am hoping to get a couple hours burn time out of it. If I had to guess I 'd say the door should not warp due to the small size, the structural bend and the reinforcement/air flow director on the pack. Will follow up when the tent arrives. This stove and a 14 pound spike tent from David Ellis Canvas Works comes in way under a grand and under 30 pounds!

And the tent it is destined for

That little sob will get hot I bet. Can't beat sheet rolled metal for fast hot fast cold. With the right wood 2 hours is probably the max burn time as long as it isn't -28. Nice little unit!

$5 stove. Just sayin'...

if that is a cut down 50 gallon drum it might not fit in my pack so well. LOL.

So was the 5 bucks for grinding wheels or for the rod to weld that one up? If ya got a welder and a few hours by all mean ya can fab up the best stove in the world for peanuts.

Looks close to a Yukon stove

Yeah the yukon multi fuel would be much more desirable as long as you were not packing it in. This little stove aint in the category of the yukon stove. I got it to fill a pretty specific niche. (i.e a packed in base camp that needs to travel on my back over 2 days) The major benefit of the yukon is being able to use a decent length of wood in it. This stove will require twice as many cuts to feed. (11 inch sticks).

If Demonical lived an hour closer I would have bought the yukon stove and had him cut it in half and weld a plate back on. LOL.

Were is the rest of it? :D we would freeze if we had a stove that small in our tent. It gets down to -20 sometimes

You are backpacking this stove in somewhere along with the canvas tent mentioned above? How far are you going?

I'm guessing a days hike atleast, maybe 2 just to get there.

Cool stove BTW !

I don't think the Op actually mentioned anything about having to pack his stove. That being the case that's a pretty slick little stove.

Obviously the barrel stoves we use have pretty much zero value so we just leave them in the bush at the camp site. They last for years.

Crazeydavey, hopefully far enough..... Be alot easier if you'd drag them horses up here. My goal this year is to see jaydog's ridiculous grin when the sheep topples over. No grand aspirations myself. ( unless it looks like it will go in the book)

Wait- what??? Its a slick rig and I'm sure I'd push granny down a flight of stairs to be warm and dry after a day glassing in a northern BC thunderstorm, but anything I'm carrying that heavy better have horns! Good thing I have all summer to find a free llama on Kijiji. :p

Not to worry, we would'nt waste your talents on the blunt work. Yours is the realm of the quick ascent and sure shot.

I like it, really would like to set up a true backcountry camp with canvas tent and woodstove 30 clicks from travelled trails etc. I've hiked that far in with 60lbs, would be doable with a few guys, maybe even just two to make a great camp way in there. The other benefit I see here as a pilot is light weight and small size for a small plane to drop you on a sandbar somewhere.
