I didn't want to highjsck another thread so I started this one. Another member was comparing ammo and referred to certain types producing stovepiping. What is or does stovepiping mean.

Thanks

From what I understand...

For several reasons (crap ammo, not enough power, weak/tired springs, screwed up ejectors) caused the fired empty brass to gets only partially ejected, and caught, and squished sideways in the ejection port as rifle cycles.

I have just testfired a bunch of different 22lr ammos in my 1022 to see what it likes. Still likes the CCI minimags a lot, but I noticed something when I was shooting some of the cheaper varieties especially in the Remington. The bang was not what it should have been. Of every maybe 10 or 20 rounds there was a much softer bang every 5 or 10 rounds. Ejected ok and fired ok but some didnt make the target. Sounded like half the powder was missing. None of the better ammo did this and I have fired hundreds of the CCI stuff.
