Straight Pull, bolt action CZ-858?

Thing is, what could they do to stop it?

What do you thinks stops people from using unpinned mags now? The same fear of prosecution will work fine to stop people from using any mag deemed to be a prohibited device by the RCMP.

It has been beaten to death that when it comes to magazines "designed and manufactured for" is the law.

And who do you think decides what something was designed and manufactured for? The RCMP. When the RRA LAR-15 mags were first being imported the importer and RRA had to send samples to the RCMP, along with design documentation and other information to satisfy the RCMP that those mags were indeed designed for the LAR and not an AR rifle. Why do you think that CGN admin won't let people talk about or sell the east coast .50 Beowulf mags? Because the RCMP haven't given them official blessing yet. Whether you think it is right or not, the RCMP firearms lab gets final say on these matters.

What happens next? It goes to court and the dude who printed the mags (if he has any good sense) presents as evidence the print files that SPECIFICALLY say the mags are designed and manufactured for the straight pull rifle. Prior to printing, he builds into the design the text on the side of the mag "designed and manufactured for the 858 straight pull."

What does the judge say when he sees that?

You know what the crown attorney and the court will do? They will call "expert witnesses" from the RCMP firearms lab who will testify that the 858 straight pull rifle uses the same mags as the vz58/858 series of rifles and that any mag that fits into the 858SP is by default a vz58/858 mag and must be pinned to 5 rounds.
