Since the hidden results of the enquiry into the 1988 Hungerford shootings we have been banned from having self loading centre fire rifles. In fact only .22rf is allowed. That said some ingeneous chaps have worked hard to get around the law. One such chap is Mark Bradley from Essex.
I had the chance to try his Bradley Arms BAR15 yesterday, normally straight pulls in my collection would be Manlichers oor Ross products but this had me intrigued. I'll get the full specs sometime but Paul who splashed the cash is happy to use it on Fox and Muntjac Deer;

The white noise in the background is rain. we had just returned from the wettestt stalking trip for Fallow I have ever been on. saw lots of deer but none close enough for a shot and found a Roebuck skull.
Oh and just to piss Paul off a little more than the weather I shot a bit better than him with his rifle and was proved right over the foresight on an SMLE I also sold him that day;

Well at least we can shoot the deer 7 days a week 52 weeks a year with no limits and we are still overrun by the buggers!

I wonder if it is legal to bring these into Canada to hunt with - definitely faster then a traditional boltgun and you would be able to modify the rifle fairly easily to personalize it with all the crazy AR parts floating around.

Wonder if it would be labeled a variant...? the 30rnd mags would be awesome!

Is it just me or does he have a .223 and .308 version???

Bring those into Canada with mags specifically made for them and we can finally have 30rd mags for all our Ar's and FS2000's etc.

If it looks like an AR mag and fit likes an AR mag it is an AR mag. The prime case has been seen with too many

AIA Enfield in 308
AIA Enfield in 7.62X39
S&W M&P-15-22 Pistol

The RCMP rule LAR-15 to have ten, imho was to prevent a straight pull to get 30, they can simply call it used for LAR-15 and restricted to 10.

FAIL!

If someone made NEW TOOLING and SPECIFICALLY STAMPED the magazines as being for use "Only in BAR-15 rifles" (or another straight-pull) then they would fall under the same decision as the LAR-15 mags.

The cost is massive and the market, though we think it's great, is quite small. This is why we haven't seen them yet.

I would love to have one of these in .308. I bet they can be made quite accurate. Would it qualify as non-restricted? I guess not. The lower receiver is probably identical to any AR.

Based on my reading of other posts on a similar idea, no to non-restricted status. It is still an AR variant. The only way to get an NR bolt gun with AR type ergonomics I believe is to go the route of a Tube gun chassis. I don't know much about this but I believe the Tubb2000 is good example.

I believe there was a pump action with AR ergonomics that was deemed restricted because... It looked like an AR... Funny how the RCMP cannot stop someone who looks like a terrorist but can ban guns on look alone...
