Does any one know if there is talk of being able to use the new straight wall cartridges in shotgun only areas in Ontario.

Where is there a shotgun only area with a moose season?
As for Ontario, be the change you want to see. Contact your MPP or whatever y'all call em. Contact Ford and whatever minister is responsible. Spread the word to others. Maybe contact gun clubs in the shotgun zones to try and get their membership behind it.
This feels like the kind of thing that should be reasonably easy to get some movement on, I can't imagine it would get a tonne of pushback.
It varies. Most states have a minimum bullet diameter and maximum case length. Think 357mag on the small side, 45-70 on the large side, but what exactly is acceptable changes - 45-70 isn't legal in all of them for example.
Common features are low weight for caliber bullets, mediocre to bad BCs, and muzzle velocities that make 30-30 look fast. Lol
To be fair Iowa says "straight wall and "necked down" cartridge rifles..." whereas others like Ohio specify ONLY straight wall, and even include pretty little graphics in their regs lol
I think MRP is saying shotgun is not legal for moose in BC, and that BC also has some poor regs regarding firearms of choice
and BC doesn't differentiate shot gun or slug gun, although it could be argued a shotgun with rifled barrel is just a center-fire rifle
