Strange Belt Question

Hey,

Here is what I want to use for my IPSC rig (a black one). I have my reasons, but mostly because I like them.

SGPB1-Lw.jpg

Using this style of belt in its normal configuration is contrary to the "3 belt loop" rule.

My solution is to wear the standard inner velcro belt and attach velcro to the inside of the padded belt above. To be used in a similar fashion of the normal belts I have seen.

My question is, would this be seen as reasonable with in the rules? I understand that all match director are different and there word is final.

Thanks,

Jay

This is purely a guess on my part, but I would say that using it as an outer and having an inner velcro should be fine. It would be no diffent than the standard belts most people use now. That's just my 2 cents.

5.2.3,
...the belt or inner belt or both must be either permanently sewn at the waist or secured with minimum of three belt loops....

This belt will not qualified as an IPSC legal belt without modification.
Check also rule 5.3.1,
some ROs may give you hard time on this one.

There is two other issues with this belt. The cammo paint and because it is thick enough, you may have a hard time passing "equipment has to be not further then 5cm from the body" rule.

If it's black (rather than camoflage), velcro'd to an inner belt, and configured to be compliant with the rules of the respective Division, I don't see any problem with it.

The IPSC Canada website has been down for (at least) the past few days, and http://www.nroi-canada.org/index.html has no contact information. I suggest that you contact IPSC Canada's Regional Director for his authoritative interpretation.

BTW, the Regional Director is not the end authority on the rules. You should be asking sectional or regional NROI Coordinator.

Never thought of that, thanks. I'll do that.

As long as the inner passes through 3 loops, and your equipment does not exceed 5cm. Plus the colour doesn't offend anybody, you should be good to go. Best to check though.

as long as your inner goes through 3 loops you should be fine. The whole rig may be a bit chunky, watch how far you firearm and allied equipment sticks out. as far as camo, it is "frowned upon". I have seen it many times and no one has made an issue. One time without thinking i wore a camo fleece to a match and no one said anything, no one seems to mind my castro hat. you will see a lot of people with millitary style gear that isn't cammo, i dont know about that. at a level 3 or higher match? maybe.

have you seen some of the colours on the belts that some competitors wear? Talk about representing the rainbow with your mag pouches alone! :)

Its your fashion statement to make, unfortunately there is a rule about not allowing camo unless its part of the uniform, the black should be fine.

Does that not stike anyone else as being sad?

I mean really............who gives a WHIT if the colour of someones belt is a particular colour?

I am military, so I might be able to get away with the camo, but it's about the spirit of the game. I'm not willing to make waves about this.

Also, IPSC is international, so while this is pretty silly in Canada, in other countries, looking military can be bad for your health.

If you are currently active LEO or Military you should have no problems then. Rules 5.2.8, 5.2.8.1 and 5.3.1 would allow you to use it camo or black. These rules allow LEO and Military to use duty holsters and allied equipment. The Match Director or Range Master would have the last word at any given match so you would have to check with him/her at each match.

In my massive MD expertise (a whole 1 match!) I'd allow it. So if i get roped into doing the next Lethbridge match, you're welcome to wear anything you like! wear a camo skirt for all I care!

I'll check but I believe for that rule to apply it would have to be his actual duty gear. In black or green I don't see an issue, and that would be a good rig to play the CQB game with the fine folks from the ORA as well.
