Strange colored bp substitute?

Question for all of you bp shooters. Anyone know of a red colored bp substitute? The cartridge I got it out of was made in 1986 and was made in the US.
Im thinking it is possibly one of the ascorbic acid substitutes like the old cleanshot or i think it is now called american Pioneer. I dont know much about these substitutes so I was hoping one of you knew. Asked in the bp forum but it seems no one shoots their rifles...
 
Hmmm ... better not shoot them.

American Pioneer is grey. As is Triple 7. BlackHorn 209 is also grey.

Were the cartridges stored correctly? Maybe they got wet and had a chemical reaction change the propellant.
