Strange issue with my Lee Enfield - Bolt won't open

I've had the rifle for years, and was cleaning it the other night, as I often do from time to time with guns that stay in the safe for long periods of time, to prevent any rust build up or what have you. After putting the bolt back in, and locking it down, I couldn't lift the bolt up to pull it back anymore. It's seized closed. Anyone see that before? It's the first time its ever happened. The rifle was empty before cleaning (obviously). Anyone know what might be going on? It's the first time I've ever seen that with any of my bolt action guns. The rifle itself has been well maintained.

I would not be beating on it. I just tried on a 1944 Long Branch. By closing the bolt normally, the rifle is cocked - then put the safety lever to "On" (pulled safety lever back) - now bolt won't open. Also, closed bolt with trigger pulled - bolt closed, but cocking piece all the way forward. Moved safety lever to "On" (pulled safety lever back) - again bolt will not open. So, would be thinking some loose part inside to act as that safety does, if you had not inadvertantly put the safety lever to "On" when you closed the bolt?

And, for sure as said in previous posts - half #### locks up the bolt. Various reasons for that - you will not like them - to do with the sear missing the cocking piece but catching the half #### notch. Do not beat on it - you are not the first - is apparently fairly standard "repair".

I had one go into half-#### by itself, while firing. After firing a shot, the bolt wouldn't open. It took a while to notice the position of the cocking piece. I never did figure out how it happened. The primer wasn't punctured or bulged. The ammunition was army issue, but I didn't think of checking lot number or anything.
