Strange marking on primer .223... Please help?

This could be true, but there is an easy way to tell. Check to see if the crimp is still intact or if it's been removed ?

That's not their typical commercial ammo. That's their AE stuff.
Trust me, I know that head stamp well, reload for AR, and have cut the crimp off hundreds of them.

I know the ammo. I've reloaded many thousands of rounds of it. I have never removed a crimp or had any trouble seating a primer in it. *shrugs* weird

Are you sure you cut the 'crimp' off or did you just remove some material (chamfer the pocket) using a primer pocket reamer?
