Strictly a question of aesthetics

I am planning on restocking a couple of rifles with a Boyds. My question is purely about the look of the gun. I'm leaning towards some of the more colourful options but wonder what you fellas would chose for the following guns in terms of colour and style.

1) Savage bolt action with a stainless barrel
2) Savage model 25 with a flat black barrel
3) Weatherby Mk V with polished blue metal

Thanks

I like the nutmeg version for all rifles but of course since this is just an aesthetics question you need to pick whatever floats your boat. The only thing I don't like about Boyd's stocks is that they are heavy even when lightened out by milling the barrel channel and drilling out the butt yet they are stable and tame recoil in heavy kickers.

You forgot........well priced !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently put a boyds nutmeg prairie hunter on my savage and am really impressed with the look and feel of the boyds stock. Now that I have seen and held a boyds stock I will be ordering more in the future to outfit my other guns as well.

I have had a few of them over they years. IMO, the pepper, forest camo, and nutmeg are equally nice and will look good on the rifles you listed.

I am not a fan of the more "electric colors"

I am a fan of the traditional walnut and blue steel but once in a while I like to walk on the wild side;) LoL

I have a nice set of stainless rings for that rig...and a silver elite 3200 to go in them...have to wear sunglasses for sure then :p

I like their pepper lam stocks although I'm waiting for walnut to show up right now...

All depends on what you will be hunting with them.... for deer, moose, elk etc I like th etraditional nutmeg or the forest camo.... for predator I like the pepper laminate..... I'd save the electric stuff for bench queens..... but then again, I am kind of a fudd.....

I am not a Fudd... Although I do own a collection that is about 70% Fuddish... The other 30% would make a Fudd choke! Even if these are Hunting guns, do yourself a favor and get one in the Applejack color... It looks fantastic with blued metal... For the stainless Savage the Pepper looks very good. I'm on my phone now, I'll post some pictures that will help you with your choices... Also, Boyd's has "textured black" as a standard option now... It used to be only in limited production runs... I have a few of those also.

Just ordered two thanks to this thread....lol.... One for my 700 DM and one for my 870 express circa 1993..... both in forest camo... 2 week wait as th e870 is out of stock and had to be backordered but can't wait until these show.... this will take all of the black / synthetic stocks out of the cabinet never to return again..... :)

Of the colors, "Applejack" is my favorite;

"Sky" blue is fairly subtle (not compared to plain walnut), and it looks very good with a stainless action and barrel OR blued metal;

Royal is nice, but some find it "girly;"

Now this "Blackjack" is definitely girly, but my teenage daughter loves it;

Jacaranda is a good compromise of color and a more subtle (camo"ish") pattern;

"Textured black" has the standard look of synthetic, but with better heft and feel;

Then there are the standard Nutmeg and Forest Camo patterns;

There is a guy in Saskatchewan (I picked up his card at the gun show in Martensville but can't find it now) who makes pretty nice plywood stocks. That would be a good alternative.
