In the midst of a build. Will be a 10.5 inch barrel recessed into a 12 in handguard with a kx3 on it. It's a look I'm after. Want an optic but not necessarily a red dot. I find them to be too big at longer ranges and I don't like magnifiers. Anyone have any experience with the strike eagle? I see primary arms has a 1-8 also. I've fondled the eagle a couple times but I'm a few parts away from completion so I haven't purchased yet. Max shooting 200 yds will set up with offset irons probably as well. Thanks for any input

I have a strike eagle and I love it. But that Primary Arms 1-8 looks good too since I always welcome a little extra magnification at that pricepoint
Yeah that's why I was asking. It's a couple more power but I'm yet to see one so not sure if it stays nice and clear or not. I do like the reticle and illuminating levels and mid click off of the strike eagle. Some of the review on PA said it gets a bit fuzzy at 8x around the edges and others said it went blurry on them
I put a Strike Eagle on my MR1 this summer.... so far no regrets. It seems nice and clear, reticle is simple, not clustered and distracting like the PA... 6 power seems plenty adequate out to 200+yrds.
two problems i have noticed with my Strike Eagle though.....is for some reason, when I mounted it to the MR1, and went to sight it in.... the scope was literally 6 feet off at 50 yrds!! (that couldve been the mount on the MR1 though, who knows) secondly; the rear eye focus piece is fairly loose, which means that the rear flip up cover that comes with the scope already mounted at the back, tends to slowly rotate when firing, putting your eye focus off by a 1/3rd turn eventually. This doesnt seem to change the image clarity much, it just bother's me more in a cosmetic way. But still; fairly annoying.

Is there a ring to lock it down? I didn't think to look for that when I was handling one. Some allow you to focus then have another ring to lock it. I agree on the non cluttered reticle. I'd like to keep both eyes open in certain situations so the less going on the better
The Strike Eagle is a good optic at its price point. Things that would benefit the scope would be:
- better glass, which suffers from a little distortion at the edges and isn't exactly 1x at minimum magnification (but of course this would increase the price)
- "off" positions between illumination settings (marginal price change but large value increase)
- bigger eye-box (again would likely increase the price).
The best aspects of the optic in my view are:
- great value (price for performance/features)
- Vortex warranty
- relatively simple, useful reticle (if you have any kind of need to shoot fast at various distances, with only a need for practical accuracy - a simple BDC reticle has value)

I personally find their reticle a little too busy and would have to use one to see if it would be slower. I'm not sure I would ever use all of the ranging features built into the scope. Also, I'd like to see how people make out from a warranty perspective.

Never had a recoil issue but its just .223/5.56
There are stike eagles with a .308 reticle
Strike eagle is a good scope for the price point as many have said, I think it is massive overkill for a 10" gun though. For that barrel length, if you don't like a red dot (I am in the same boat due to Astigmatism) I would seriously consider the spitfire AR prism optic. True 1x but an etched reticle that for me anyways is much more crisp. The new AR versions come with a pre-calibrated elevation cap for dialing your zero out to extended ranges.
I think he was referring to the lumination dial hovering between clicks, not the overall robustness of the scope...
Yep you got it. I had some autocorrect technical difficulties but yeah I was responding to the previous comment of not turning off between but I thought the one I handled would if you hovered between clicks. My recoil comment was just in regard to the dial actually staying there teetering between illumination levels when the gun starts moving
Yeah that's why I asked. I'm building another longer one and may wait for the strike eagle. I was feeling it was a big chunk of optic for a smaller rifle that I would like to keep light it adds a pound. I have same problem with astigmatism but I have a sparc that I can see quite well. My wife is another story she claims she doesn't need glasses yet every red dot she sees she claims she can see a whole Bunch of small dots not one so I can't explain that.
Maybe hers will get the strike eagle then it will be too heavy and I'll get points for her getting the nice one then reluctantly take it off and put it on one of mine. It's all a game really lol
I was looking for something with some zoom but the type of shooting I'll be doing with this short one the 1x may make more sense especially with the Bdc turret. Rarely will I shoot over 200 with this particular rifle and reviews I read on the new spitfire ar said hitting 400 was no issue with it. The zoom may be saved for a longer rifle for other purposes. This is kind of a short, fun pinker. I'll have to look at the options a little closer thanks for input
