Good morning Brothers. Has anyone ever stripped out the pinion on these babies? I've read that they're supposed to be weak. How about the latest that arrived a couple of months ago? I've got a complete rear Garand sight but I'm thinking of just using the rear aperture it self.Everything meshes and moves fine. Its not like we are moving theses sights around alot once we find our sweet spot.Later

My understanding is that the pinion tip strips during the removing and reinstalling of the rear sight. I too have a Garand rear sight but my stock Chinese one is working fine and I have it set dead on at 100 meters. I agree with your opinion and will leave it until I have a problem. I always use the same ammo so I don't need to make any more adjustments.

Hey mikebaker.I didn't strip anything on the rear sight yet.I was wondering if it was a big issue to use the Garand rear aperture with the norinco guts.Mine meshs fine and moves ok.And like I stated earlier we (I) don't move them around much once its set. Howdy Grant order another one yet?

My norinco sight was useless, after I got it zeroed, any change would produce random results, sometimes one click got you one click, sometimes it would be five. I love the gun, but I replaced the sight with one from a garand

I'm torn between getting another one or ordering a stock from 45ACPKING. He has a stock coming that will blow your mind......very tacticool. I've seen and handled it and it will give the AR guys fits.

the problem is the pinion shaft is softer steel than the windage knob.... AND the small lock ring inside the windage knob is slightly oversized and is the culprit when it comes to the pinion threads getting stripped.
My advice is if you are going to compete or participate in service or tac rifle or something similar... the sights gotta go.
if yer just range shooting and havin general fun..... don't even worry about it until they give you a problem.

I'm just a range/hunting kinda guy so I'll leave it the way I set it up.Thanks guys for your input and nice seeing you again Thomas.
