Stripper Clips For The M14? Why?

I use the stripper clips.

In this country with our idiotic laws, it's a pain to shoot 5 rounds, take off the mag, load it back up, put it back on.

It's very easy to just drop a 5 round clip into the holder push down and then pull the clip out.

Of course I only have one magazine for my M14 though lol :D

To the OP, you can find them but they are priced a little high in my opinion, they go about $1 a clip believe it or not!

I got some ncstar 308 strippers out of the states for $8.00 bucks for 20. Only problem being the <expletive deleted> lady border guard had a problem with my "10 round clips". I almost had a stroke trying to explain to her the difference between a clip and a magazine. I went inside, and the guy behind the counter looked at the ticket and said "stripper clips? Is that it?" "Yes, that's it". "Why do you need so many?" He says... f:P:

Edit: Anybody know where to get a mag spoon? Or 5-rounders?

a while back, i found an FNC1 mag loading attachment (can't remember the exact name for this), and found that with a bit of grinding on the top of the rear catch plate of an M305 mag they will work great to load m14 stripper clips... if you've not seen them before, the fnc1 clip loader has front and rear guides for the clipped rounds, so it is faster and more stable than loading with the m14 type mag spoons....

You are using the da**ned 5 round mags...nothing to grab hold of. 5/20 mags are much easier to remove.

even the original m14(usgi) has a 5 round mag to mimic the Garand when used for parade/tomb/grave guard duty- I have 5 of these and you have to change them with a screwdriver - the field and original magazine was 20 rounds-

I continue to use stripper clips to top off mags.

For those of you using 5 round mags, you may want to contact NoExpert over on TEAM M14 forum about his mag pull modification.

I used a simple electrical conduit clamp thing, 3/16 rivet into the drain hole. Easy to drill out and replace if you want to dismantle the mag.
Less than a buck each.
