Just a thought, would a different carrying sling or backpack type setup assist.
Myself, during a stalk I cannot even sense the weight of the rifle, the walk in is a different story.
It is all in the perspective. Is loosing less than a pound worth the effort?
Aw i run a rather decent setup but DO NOT pack light, i love luxuries out in the hills for 3-5 days and often carry as much as i can fit in once i got my Must haves. shelter,bedding,cooking/food. then just load in junk food, coffee milk, coke cans...u name it..
this shows my Rem 700 when in the High country , the long barrel doesnt get hunt up in that sparser country. ...
minus all the food i run the Exo everyday hunt and it has a good weight to it with all Must haves for that- but i carry things like RF, epirb, knives, 2l water, tripod, cameras, an odds and ends, for incase....
in the Bush the rifle is in the Hand mostly, or sometimes on the shoulder, hence why im going to Lop a little and lighten a fair bit as part of a Bogus projectus Whelanladdus aboltiuz.
its sort of all money, my tent weighs 2.2kg say, but i buy them for $120.......... a MSR hubba, or Macpac might be Lighter but its 4x the price..... im not committed to Ultralight pack hunting -
Typically also the Kimber is the Back packing rifle with a 25kg Backpack on. an that will stay-
A bolt is my local gun, grab it an go chase some deer near home or a few hours away, etc
