stripping Browning stocks

I've used (MinWax) "Circa 1879" a couple of times on Brownings.

A slow process with lots of scraping, but it worked O.K.

Yep Circa 1850 .... don't know why 1879 rang a bell !!!

I find that Circa 1850 works better than most.
Scuff the finish first with 80 grit sandpaper and most of the finish will come off in one or two applications.
There seems to be a primer coat under the finish of the Brownings that ignores the stripper but it will sand off easily with 220 to 320 grit.
