Stubbie 10/22's

I can't decide if an 8" barrel looks goofy or not. I bet they shoot just fine though.

OK, this thread sealed the deal and convinced me, they are pretty handy looking little riffles and I totally need another 10/22 project to start. My wife will thank you all i'm sure!

Anyone do a stubby with the new magpul stock? I was thinking just long enough to get a device on the end and all black would be pretty. Any comments on that stock at all welcome also. I did a search found some chatter but curious if more people have built them up since release

8" barrel with XB5 linear comp. still louder than 16-18" barrels. I threw on hearing protection after a couple mags left some ringing. Accuracy was ~1.25" at 50 yards. Actually better than factory barrel. Reliable didn't change between the barrels.

Thanks for all the pics fellas! Muchly appreciated!!!

This one from Shawn is what I am kinda throwing around as a concept. Can any of you fellas post some pics of groups shot with these guns? Dammit...I bought one of those stubbie AR15's and I just fell in love with the little squirt and figure another pocket rifle in .22 might be just the ticket...

My 80.00 Charger barrel, off a rest at 50 yards.

I let the barrel cool down and really took my time with the center target, but had one I pulled bad. :(

The other targets I was shooting pretty fast like when I am processing gophers. :)

Could have down better, but I had a bullpup .308 next to me at the indoor range, and was not really enjoying shooting that day.......

I wasted way too much ammo, think of going back to my .22 bolt action for rodents this year.

Or you could buy a .22 AR upper:

Where or how does one go about acquiring one of these beauties? Are they from the factory like that or do you have to custom build one?

every gun in this thread is hand made.
well not really hand made...... ordered in piece by piece and assembled by the person.
(usually in the closet late at night when the wife is sleeping!)

Is that a Charger? Is it the factory barrel, cut down and polished or an after-market barrel? Silver receiver and trigger group are different as well. Details? More photos?

No it is not technically a Charger, it is a 10/22 with a custom 6" barrel from McGowen (ordered through Mystic Precision) a Kidd single stage trigger and a modified Boyds rifle stock with a Butler Creek folder mechanism .

There is a long thread on it here if you want all the ditty gritty details: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1134581-Low-Budget-10-22-quot-Pocket-Rifle-quot-SBR-Project

Basically I built a restricted 10/22 rifle (I never shot it in the pistol configuration as shown in the first photo):

I was getting 1"- 1.25" groups just quickly shooting prone on a bag. But that's also using cheap golden bullets.

I bought the 8" barrel and comp from DLASK, cut my stock down and sanded / oiled the end. Had to sand out the barrel area too to fit the .920 vs the factory barrel.
