Well it finally happened after 4yrs. of loading!I was making up a dummy round to check seating depth, and got the case stuck in my Redding seating die!I can dissasemble the die ,but the expander ball which is threaded to the expander decapping rod,is stuck in the case neck. What now?

lol.. I just did that for the first and last time just recently.

Someone removed it for me, but what my uncle did was put the die into a vice and thread the cartridge through the primer hole then unscrew with a special tool.. I'm sure someone can put more detail into this but it definately sucks.. sure makes you learn the importance of case lube pretty quick.

So if i understand your circumstances. The case is out of the die but the expander ball and rod are stuck in the neck. I had the same problem last year and tried everything to get that damn thing out of the case. I ended up destroying the expander. My suggestion is to file the case neck and cut a relief into it so you can just pull out the ball.

You didn't use enough lube inside the neck. Remove what you can and spray the excrement out of it with WD and bash it with a pastic mallet. Don't worry about damaging anything. Redding will replace it.

If the case is out of the die, and the expander unit is stck inside, just saw the head off the case so that the expander can be removed that way.

- i've done that with a tubing cutter- one step up from the hacksaw

Yeah the case is out of the die!I lubed the case before sizing, but I had a brain fart, and didn't use the brush or lube on the case neck.Oh well!I'm too used to new brass, and forgot all about it.Unless some one can come up with another idea.I'll use my razor saw,and cut the bottom off the case, then see if I can split the case.Hre goes nothing!

You can get a stuck case remover - basically just a drill & tap so you can thread the base of the cartridge, use that and a metal cap piece (also included) to lever the case out. Actually quite easy
