avoiding or or not doing any of the above is a win for anti gunners.

Buy the gun, if it seems that the law will change... then switch the barrel. Support the sport and get the restricted firearm! Then in a few months get a sidearm. Like someone mentioned above join the NFA and CSSA.

for those of you that are waiting because you think they are going to confiscate all the restricted, All I have to say to you guys, is why wait until they change the law? you might as well turn in your licenses now and save yourself the headaches. It is real poor gesture to all the people that have been fighting the C68, LGR and continue to fight for the rights of the law bidding firearm owners in this country.

That's not at all helpful.

You should be buying more, and becoming more active with the orgs when under threat. Alternately, donate the funds for the gun you are scared to buy to the orgs.

Buy the SANs - you won't regret it, ever.

As for the Bushmaster .... 'sigh' .... 'not sure I've seen BM and SANs used in the same train of thought before.

I called the CFO today to complete a transfer of a handgun, and while talking I asked about certain firearms. I was transfered to one of their "Technicians". I asked specifically about the SWISS rifle and KRISS Vector. They stated the KRISS had a review, and its completed and classified as restricted/non with no further issues. I explained my situation about looking to possibly obtain a SWISS rifle.

The technician stated. "Being honest with you, i'd hold off. I cant give you any information or a time-frame for a decision, but I can say that buying one now may not be a good decision".

Really that gives us nothing more than we already new, but I dont like the "way" he said it.. if that makes sense.

Thoughts?

Well from my understanding the RCMP were ready to declare them prohibited, and requested information on lineage from the importer and SAN. They got the requested information and everything has gone quiet. By "grounds" I meant do they have evidence supporting their claim that the SANs we can buy in Canada are variants of the 550 series, and not variants of the 540 series?

They will have to buy them if they go prohib, so shop away.

yeah, i know... i guess i'm skeptical as to whether this could have moved beyond 'technical grounds' and to some other agenda. we all know there are certain firearms that have been deemed - at the very least- restricted because of some public perception or other factors (can you say AR15?). i can't help thinking that such might be the case here... but i hope i'm wrong.

so what does that about the CPC as the firearm owners' 'friends'?
It says we have good people in Ottawa that are on our side, and others who don't give a f@#k as long as we vote for them. We also have strong voices representing us who let our friends in Ottawa know what we want and what we can do for them. All of those ppl need our support, and cash.

So if this issue concerns you folks on this thread, ask yourself, "What have I done for my friends in Ottawa lately?".

other than writing my MP and various cabinet ministers to question their rationale for why certain rifles are restricted? and being told to pound salt? not much.

Buy what ever you want ! why is it so many Canadian gun owners are willing to just lay down and see what happens ? Buy the damn gun ! hell ... Buy 2 !

All im doing right now is buying guns , other than bills and food ... Guns !

cool... can you spot me a couple bucks? you'll get it back right after the buyback, i promise.... ;)

but you've got a point- if it's too expensive, the govt won't do it.

Not really sure what you mean, but the reason is simple, the committees in the early 90s picked which rifles were to be prohib and restricted.

so why hasn't the CPC changed this? they've got a majority. they're on the side of the law abiding gun owners. they can only blame the previous liberal administrations for so long.
