STUCK - ultrasonic or SS. tumbling

Thank you for this thread,

At the moment, space is an important consideration so I use an ultrasonic cleaner. I had one when I started reloading as I am also an amateur goldsmith. The tiny one I started with cleaned 1000's of cases before it burned out and I replaced it with a larger one. It does an adequate job but doesn't make the cases shiny. I can be confident that they are adequately cleaned however and that is what is most important. As a craftsmen I can understand the attraction of the shiny. The fact that the Ultrasonic cleaner is useful for cleaning items other than just brass is a benefit.

Previously, I had planned to purchase or make a SS tumbler when space allowed. Due to this thread I can see that there may be some reasons to consider dry media.

For those who are having trouble separating the SS pins from the brass.
Go purchase the RCBS media separator which has a lid on it.
Fill the separator with water. Fill the basket with the brass filled with pins.
Spin 10 times in each direction and all the pins are separated.

Drain out the water and spin 10 more times and 90% of the water is gone.
Dump the brass in a microfiber towel and your brass is virtually dry.

BTW the pins are magnetic so you don't have to pick pins up one at a time.
