Hey there....

I recently picked up a Remington 597, and was thinking of adding a bipod. I realize that I would need to install either a stud or a rail in order to do this, and am leaning more toward the stud option. So my question for all of you is what should I be looking for in a stud? What studs have you guys used and had success with?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

If you take the stock off, you'll notice a molded post at the front. I drilled that out and used one of the heavy threaded studs. In the back, I used the one with a machine thread and a nut.

If there is enough material in the stock then the coarse threaded one would suffice. The machine screw and nut, in my opinion, is preferable if there is enough clearance for the barrel not to interfere. These are widely available for about $2 each. Phil.
