I'm out for a elk this year and starting in Grand Prairie but just thinking of a backup plan if I don't get luck and get my first bull in GP
Just wondering how to contact and phone Numbers ?
And when is it open for hunting ?
This is not my first Choice for my elk just a backup plan any info would be appreciate it thank you in Advance

Lots of elk up there, why drive so far ?

Grizz

Just a back up plan
I have always hunted deer and moose plus the odd black bear but never elk this is my first year hunting elk
I will be working between Edmonton and Foxcreek on days off looking at hunting Grand Prairie and Hinton
To be honest I don't really know what I'm doing Haahaa just thought it be a good idea to have a backup plan

He may be an aboriginal/FN/Indian. A lot come from all over Canada, no draws for them just spray and pray. Range Patrol picks up their leavings and offers them to draw holders. This is not a hunt by the way, it is a cull. They need/want less Elk/Wapiti there for environmental reasons.

I don't know nothing about it
I just missed hunting the last 4 years do to work and this year took a job that gives me 14 and 7 so I can go hunting instead of getting cranky with every one
I'm a responsible Hunter I have waited till the hunting season I take into consideration other Hunter I'm not shooting everything that moves
Bin working in Alberta 5 year spend more time in Alberta then I do at home
I am tempted to move to Alberta still thinking about it but I would need mountains so just getting a fell for thing see how it go's

I was hopping that this thread would not turn into one of those Indian threads
I trying to work with other hunters in Alberta not against them
Just because something is legal dos not mean I will do it

I would rather hunt the regular season up around Grand Prairie and Hinton actually kind of hoping to meat up with sum of the guys on CGN
Stuffild I was only a thout if thing don't work out as plan up around Grand Prairie

We have our locals going to that base to get Elk. Hardly fair if you ask me. They could make a fortune selling tags, not just giving them away.

This why I asked I want a hunt not a cull
I want to earned my elk you only have a first once I am not going would rather go home empty-handed

I'm getting confused by the geography mentioned. Suffield base is grassland near Medicine Hat. Bald, undulating, make you lose your mind, open prairie. But some posts are mentioning Grand Prairie. That's deep in the bush a lot further north. So which hunting area is being discussed?

I was only asking about the base more out of curiosity
I'm working up north and will hunt up north just curious one of my friends was trying to talk me into going down there

Plans have a way of changing really quick its the nature of the job I guess the only thing I realy know is I'm working up north and grateful I have a job thank god all the work this year is LOA and not camp work dot know how much time I will get hunting but its better than nothing lol

Fair huh? Ask the Ranchers who have land alongside the Block if things come across as fair.
10,000 was the highest number I've heard...but way too many.
caverk; please come down and shoot some elk. I can give you some spots to hunt.
Pay no attention to the ' Angry White Guy ' BS. The Elk are not supposed to exist here, they are an introduced anomaly. The whiners who want a trophy rack from the easy pickin'...ignore them.
If you make it down this way hit me up. I generally can find Elk, good old prairie boy that I am. Got lots of connections that way.
Right now Bow Island Grazing pasture is a rumoured hot spot. See no 'Bogart'ing ' the hunting spots. Go get 'em
Not fair...Jezzuz Christ on a cross...no clue of the situation at all.

Hey TokGuy.....I have my anterless in 108 this year (first year drawn). There's plenty of em down by the border if you are willing to go look for them.

I live on the edge of 108 and 112 its not too bad around here plenty of game to choose from. I'm surprised, actually, by the number of elk out down here on the flats.
