Stumbled onto a neat site

That is pretty neat!

I see their .366 listings need to be updated.

A cool picture nicked from the site -from left to right - 6.5x57, 7x57, 7x57R, 8x57I, 8x57IS, 8x57IRS, 9x57, 9.3x57 and 10.75x57:

I checked out the 375 Chatfield-Taylor and found they had used an old pic I took of a 375CT with a 375/06 and 375H&H.

Here's the original pic.

That argument could be used for lots of chamberings.

Yes... and it would be valid in each application... more so when comparing a common readily available cartridge to an obscure, difficult-to-obtain-components-for cartridge... the more common on one hand and more obscure on the other, the more valid the argument...

But then again, sometimes you "just gotta..."

Lord knows, I have been guilty of indefensible choices in the past... and likely will be again in the future.

Of course the context matters greatly when considering validity of an argument- if I want a Type B Oberndorf - or any pre-War custom M98 for that matter - to play nostalgia, then a .358 simply won't do. For some people a rifle is more that just a tool. :)

I really wouldn't mind a 6.5x57. It's been on my mind for a long time now. I see Zastava lists it as a chambering.........

The 9x57 is a great cartridge as well. I had a small ring 98 sporter chambered for it but sold it several years ago. I still have a full box of Kynoch ammo as well as about 20 other various head stamped rounds.

Just in case another one comes my way.

Yes, JB, the 6.5x57 would be nice. In fact I like all of the cartridges based on the 8x57 - except that 10.75x57. I'm not sure about that one, although I have to admit that it is probably just my ignorance. For some reason the 5.6x57 is not in that picture. A fellow I knew had one in a Steyr-Mannlicher and it is a mean looking little round.

I'm a big fan of the 57 case as well. Enough capacity for almost any hunting situation with the right bullet dia and reasonable recoil.

I really wouldn't mind a 10.75x57. I think it would be an interesting round. I've researched the 10.75x68 a bit but not the 57 version so I'm not sure on ballistics.
