My cousin and I were taking advantage of the cool bug-free weekend to walk a few hunting spots, and we came upon this:

About 20yds away the bush floor was littered with hair and picked over bones, bear and wolf sh!t, and vulture feathers:

We found most of the main bits of a yearling or two-year old male moose. WIthin 20yds of the kill site we found all four legs, the hips/spine, skull and jaw (which we stuck in the crotch of a tree to mark the location. The only bits left with any meat on 'em were the legs below the knee:

Obviously he does.... and has the pictures to prove it.

Wow! I see this stuff everyday, I guess I should be taking pics for those of you who dont see it all the time . Maybe Bigredd spends too much of his time behind the sports counter at Wallmart selling rifleman scopes.

Sorry bud, I will take pics for you next time so you dont feel left out :p :D

Just razzin on ya Redd :p

Sounded like you were giving Skippy a shot there Davey... :(

There are many on the site who have not seen pics like this.... and you certainly have not posted any of your many kill sites for us to see...

The needs of the many outweigh the ego of the few.....:p

I'm watching you buddy...;)

You don't need to post any for me c/d... but I am sure that many hunters here are interested in how hard the winters were and the numbers of wolves, bears and other predators in their areas.
I for one appreciate the efforts of those who find time to post relevant information... not just derisive and dismissive jibes.

Willing victims like you davey... well they just make my day.:)

We done now?:D

I sure hope so ;)

Sorry to waste your time Davy, but spending the weeks in Toronto at University make me ache to leave the city, as you can likley imagine. Just thought this was an interesting thing to stumble upon, we covered a dozen or more miles that morning and I thought this was an exciting find to come accross in country you hunt. That moose might've been mine in a few months, maybe that bear still will be.

Glad to hear from the rest of you who enjoyed the pics.

Thanks for sharing Skippy it may seem like everyday for some of them Westerers to get out in the bush and see nature at its best but some of us are forced to be in the city most of the time so we revell at the oppertunity to be outside and fulfill our passion...........

Thanks for posting, cool.

Some people can stand on something and not see it. Including some of the guys I hunt with.

I am cutting some trails in the bush behind my property up north and I get excited when I find a new pile of moose crap or a new deer rub/scrape. You always gotta be looking and know where and how to look.

Very cool, thanks! I see weird stuff all the time in the woods, but still love to look at more, and from different parts of the country.

Don't mind Davey, he's probably still sore about the asskicking his Flames got this year ;-)

Often these kill sites are near roadways and are the results of vehicle contact. I've seen as many as 15 in one fall in my area two were arrowed the rest vehicle damaged. All had been well used by the local wildlife, the locals often phone me and I REPAY THEM with a few steaks or chops'
