Hello Gents,

Was tinkering around with my Norc 1911 and noticed my Slide Stop Plunger doesn't come out of the tube any more.

The Safety Lock Plunger is working just fine.

So I pull it apart, the Safety Lock Plunger and spring come out just fine but the Slide Stop Plunger is stuck in the tube.

I got something to push it out and it looks OK. The inside of the tube also looks fine, no obstructions.

So I lube it up and reassemble and same thing, the Slide Stop Plunger doesn't come out.

Am I missing something? Anyone else have this issue and a possible fix. Sorry if it's a stupid question but I'm at a loss and would rather not send it off to the smith.

As a side note, it's got a Comped 460 Rowland barrel all properly fitted by a smith.

It's a fairly hard banging auto so I'd rather not have the slide go off someplace if you know what I mean.

Thanks again gents and stay safe.

I'm not a 1911 person, but I've got one (WWII Remington Rand) and I know what you're talking about, although I've never had that problem. Since the spring comes out, it seems unlikely that the tunnel the plunger rides in is compressed somehow. Also, a burr seems pretty unlikely, but you might try to run a close fitting steel rod through that tunnel and polish (don't sand it) the plunger a bit. Most likely, it seems to me, the spring isn't functioning as it should. You can pick up a new spring without too much trouble, I think, and that might solve your problem. Maybe someone else can provide better information. Good luck.

The spring is very small, I have seen a couple instances where it just looses its ability to overcome the fit of the detent. Sometimes a good cleaning is all it needs other times a new spring its required. Its a fairly common issue with 1911's,...especially older ones.

As a side note both Freedom ventures and Brant keep a pretty good supply of small parts in stock
